Rwanda. MSMEs. This looks like a great initiative. Congratulations to #I&M bank and #sweden for showing leadership in a much needed area of #msme finance in #rwanda . The programme is designed to deliver particular support to young and female entrepreneurs in getting access to finance. Given the cost and difficulty that most MSMEs face in obtaining bank finance in Rwanda, it can be a game-changer for those who benefit. It will be important to monitor what happens as the programme is rolled out. How will the element of de-risking provided by the Government of Sweden, affect the bank’s lending rate? Will it make debt significantly more affordable for the targeted entrepreneurs? How many entrepreneurs will get the new support? In principle, it looks to be a better programme than others have offered in Rwanda. I’m confident that the Embassy of Sweden in Rwanda will have put in place an M&E framework to ensure it has a real impact. It will be great to see full and transparent reporting of the outcomes. IMF commits $620.65 million in budgetary support to East African nations. Six countries, including Rwanda, Tanzania, and DRC, face debt issues, falling revenue, and depreciating currencies. Funding aims to address budget deficits, strengthen foreign exchange reserves, and spur socioeconomic and governance reforms.

The UAE prioritises protecting the multilateral system, enhancing the economic, monetary and financial systems, and strengthening bilateral relations between countries across the globe. It appreciates the efforts of the International Monetary Fund in striving to achieve these goals, which are fundamental to any global economic development. ⚡ Ukraine had USD 40,507.9 bln in international reserves as of 1 January 2024. In 2023, Ukraine’s international reserves increased by 42%. Last year, Ukraine received an unprecedented volume of international financial assistance. A total of around USD 42.7 bln was credited to the government's FX accounts with the National Bank of Ukraine. The largest amounts of financial assistance came from the European Union (USD 19.7 bln), through The World Bank’s trust fund, in particular from the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Norway, and other countries (USD 16.4 bln), the International Monetary Fund (USD 4.5 bln), and Canada (USD 1.8 bln).
