PWV surrogate parameters. The left panel (a) shows the schematic set-up of a pulse arrival time measurement device. An electrocardiogram (ECG) is placed on the patient’s thorax. A photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor is placed at the peripheral side (e.g., at the finger). Both devices are interconnected with a data recorder. The right panel (b) shows the relationship between the pre-ejection period, pulse transit time, and pulse arrival time.
