Despite our nation’s failure to say YES to recognition and voice on 14 October 2023, the movement for a better future, called for in the Uluṟu Statement from the Heart, is just getting started. The Voice to Parliament was one way of achieving self-determination. It wasn’t the only way and our fight for justice continues – towards self-determination, with respect for First Nations sovereignty, and through truth, treaty and voice. We cannot afford to give up now – make the pledge today. #TruthTelling #TruthListening #Truth #VoiceTreatyTruth #UluruStatement #StayTrue2Uluru #Pledge #MakethePledge #AusPol #ANTAR #JusticeRightsRespect #Solidarity #Australiaasitmustbecome #ElevateAustralia #TimeforTreaty #TreatyNow #NativeTitle #LandBack #FirstNationsAustralia #FirstNationsFirst #AboriginalandTorresStraitIslander #ClosetheGap #ClosingtheGap #BlackLivesMatter #StopBlackDeathsInCustody #RaisetheAge #RaisetheAgeNSW #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #SovereigntyNeverCeded

The BBNJ (Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction) agreement is a landmark international effort to conserve and sustainably use marine biodiversity in areas beyond national borders. This initiative is vital for protecting the high seas' ecosystems, which are crucial for global biodiversity, climate regulation, and the well-being of coastal communities. By establishing guidelines for marine protected areas, sustainable use of marine genetic resources, and capacity building, the BBNJ agreement aims to ensure that the oceans remain healthy and productive for future generations. #BBNJ #Oceans #Sustainability #GlobalCooperation

#ICYMI COP28 didn’t really instil much faith that we can unite and address the biggest issue facing humanity as we know it, but as we all reflect on the year that was, it pays to be reminded of the wins. Here is one. A big one! Follow Climate Council for more.
#GoodNewsCountdown 🤩 #9 After more than a decade of negotiations, earlier this year the countries of the United Nations agreed to the High Seas treaty, and in September, Australia officially signed the treaty.🐋 High seas are international waters that aren't controlled by any nation and make up two thirds of the world's oceans. The treaty aims to deliver stronger protections for the ocean and is seen as a crucial component in global efforts to bring 30% of the world's land and sea under protection by the end of the decade. It’s smooth sailing folks. ⛵️ 🙌See you tomorrow for #8 in our 2023 Good News Countdown.
