Vital blood vessels on both sides of the neck deliver oxygen-rich blood to the brain. When these vessels become blocked or narrowed, #carotid #artery #disease (CAD) can develop and lead to a stroke. Early detection and treatment of #CAD can significantly reduce your risk of having a stroke. Learn from Judy’s story about the importance of knowing the risk factors for CAD and how minimally invasive procedures like #TCAR treat the disease and help reduce the risk of #stroke. https://lnkd.in/gbijSNtP Learn more about TCAR: https://bit.ly/45UPJvP

I invite you to an evening workshop organized by Access Medical Laboratories on Friday, December 15, during the A4M Longevity Fest 2023 in Las Vegas! My workshop will cover a fascinating subject: « Key hormone laboratory tests that make a difference: rT3, E1, Pregnenolone. » In this practical session, three groups of endocrine deficiencies will be discussed - thyroid, adrenal, and ovarian deficiencies- in a new light. + The important tests to do with a focus on 3 interesting tests for: | Thyroid evaluation: reverse T3 (rT3) | Ovarian evaluation: estrone (E1) | Adrenal and brain function assessment: Pregnenolone. + What is their use + How to interpret them, comparing the patient’s levels with disease zones of hormone levels within the reference range (exciting information!) This is the opportunity to ask your questions on what you ever wanted to know about hormone laboratory tests and learn more about them. Learn more and register for the congress: https://lnkd.in/earf2QEU Register to the evening workshop: https://lnkd.in/eJTMxynG #hormone #rT3 #E1 #pregnenolone #thyroid #adrenal #ovarian #reverseT3 #estrone #brainfunction #disease #hormonetherapy #hormonetreatment #medicalcongress #a4m #drhertoghe #lasvegascongress #redefiningmedicine

Understanding the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System (RAAS) 📊 Are you looking to deepen your understanding of the RAAS and its role in regulating blood pressure and fluid balance? This comprehensive diagram provides a clear overview of the key components and their interactions. Key points include: 🔬 Renin Release: Triggered by decreased renal perfusion. 🔬 Angiotensinogen to Angiotensin I: Conversion facilitated by renin. 🔬 Angiotensin I to Angiotensin II: Conversion occurs in the lungs and kidneys via ACE (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme). 🔬 Effects of Angiotensin II: Arteriolar vasoconstriction, increasing blood pressure. Stimulates aldosterone secretion from the adrenal cortex, leading to Na+ and H2O retention. Promotes ADH secretion from the posterior pituitary, enhancing water absorption. Increases sympathetic activity. 💡 This algorithm is invaluable for healthcare professionals aiming to manage conditions like hypertension, heart failure, and kidney disease effectively. 👉 Stay informed, stay ahead. Share this with your network to spread awareness about this essential physiological system. #RAAS #Healthcare #MedicalEducation #Diagnostics #Cardiology #Nephrology #MedNoteCollection

Mortality in critical pulmonary embolism patients remains high. A new study by Eric A. Secemsky, MD, MSc, RPVI, FACC, FAHA, FSCAI, FSVM et al., examined the relationship between mortality and hemodynamic collapse in PE patients. This is the largest analysis of #PE data to date thanks to efforts of the The PERT Consortium (Pulmonary Embolism Response Team) Registry.

WORLD SICKLE CELL DAY Theme 2024: Hope Through Progress: Advancing Sick Cell Care Globally. Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a genetic blood disorder that affects hemoglobin, the molecule in red blood cells responsible for carrying oxygen throughout the body. In SCD, abnormal hemoglobin causes red blood cells to become stiff, sticky, and shaped like sickles or crescent moons. These irregularly shaped cells can get stuck in blood vessels, leading to pain, organ damage, and a range of other complications. RADIOGRAPHERS play a crucial role in diagnostic imaging, such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRI scans, which are often used in the diagnosis and monitoring of sickle cell disease. Radiographers are responsible for performing these imaging procedures and ensuring high-quality images are obtained. Incorporate Self-care Practices Like: • Take prescribed medications such as hydroxyurea or folic acid • Eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. • Avoid Extreme Temperatures: places too cold or hot can trigger crises. Dress appropriately for the weather and use moisturizers to prevent dry skin. • Regular, moderate physical exercise, this should be done with caution. • Practice good hygiene, get vaccinated as recommended, and avoid contact with sick individuals whenever possible. • Avoid Tobacco intake / smoking. • Stay hydrated, drink plenty of water regularly. #sickleawareness #radiographersonduty #sicklecellday #hospital #radiographystudents #horiafrica #radiographyinitiative #radiology
