Transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) was developed to lower the risk of stroke during treatment for #carotid #artery disease. #TCAR captures emboli that may break free during the procedure through a filter and reverse flow method. Because of this method, the benefits of TCAR compared to CEA include: * Less Risk of Cranial Nerve injury * Less Risk of Myocardial Infarction * Less time in the OR * Less time in the hospital Learn more about TCAR: https://lnkd.in/gA7B72dB

The optic nerve is an important link to the brain that can be easily damaged by fluid build-up from glaucoma. The symptoms often go unnoticed. Thankfully, early detection can halt progression of the disease before it leads to irreversible blindness. #GlaucomaAwarenessMonth #Glaucoma #EyeDisease #Blindness #EarlyDetection #EyeExam #EyeCare #EyeMed

Approximately 95% of glaucoma is open-angle glaucoma (OAG)—a chronic, progressive, and irreversible disease. OAG is characterized by progressive loss of peripheral vision followed by central visual field loss or blindness. Current standard of care focuses on reduction of inner eye pressure—also called intraocular pressure or IOP—to limit damage to the optic nerve, but these do not address the underlying disease. Learn more about ONL’s paradigm shifting approach that aims to protect retinal ganglion cells, independent of IOP, to treat open-angle glaucoma: https://lnkd.in/eCjPucKK #WGW2024 #UnitingForAGlaucomaFreeWorld #GlaucomaWeek #VisionarySolutions
