Here’s what this partnership means for around 1,000 PepsiCo farmers across Europe: 👩🌾 Low and ultra-low fertilisers, precision farming digital tools, and the best crop production advice out there. 📊 Full-season crop and soil data analytics to boost sustainable farming practices. 🌱 Aiming for an 80% cut in fertilizer production emissions and a 20% reduction in in-field emissions by 2030, all without sacrificing crop quality and yield. We'll start our efforts with potatoes, the key ingredient in our delicious Lay’s and Walkers crisps. After that, we’ll expand to other crops like oats and corn, essential for brands like Quaker Oats and Doritos. We're teaming up with Athian to help transform food production. Today, Athian announced the establishment of the first-of-its-kind voluntary livestock carbon insetting marketplace, with the first accepted protocol aimed at reducing enteric methane emissions and improving feed utilization by using innovative feed management products from Elanco. Athian is verifying its first farms and creating, certifying and selling carbon credits within the dairy value chain. What does this mean? - Dairy farmers now have the opportunity to implement on-farm sustainability interventions, measure the impact and monetize their greenhouse gas emissions reductions by selling their greenhouse gas emissions reductions through the livestock carbon inset marketplace - Companies in the dairy value chain have the opportunity to purchase those carbon credits as contributions towards achieving their Scope 3 emissions reduction goals - The economic value, as well as the positive environmental value, stays in the dairy value chain, ultimately helping the U.S. dairy industry progress towards their own environmental commitments Learn more: https://bit.ly/40logjP

I'd add the 5th Lever ... generating consumer demand for #regenerativeagriculture in the food they eat and products they use and wear. I like how the report explains their phase approach to exploring the issues and opportunities for action. I don't see much in here about consumer uptake, paying a fair premium where production costs more, etc. ... BUT maybe that's next year's report? 🤔 Thanks for the share Ethan Soloviev.

The central theme of this year’s publication is mitigating climate change within the food and beverage industry. In the report, DeLaval details how advanced automated and digital solutions are increasing sustainability and profitability in the dairy industry. Our portfolio company ENOUGH has secured a major offtake deal with global food production leader Cargill to co-create new plant-based foods, at their joint site in Sas van Gent in The Netherlands. This is great news, as the farming, agriculture and land use (FALU) vertical is responsible for around 22% of all global greenhouse gas emissions. We need partnerships like this to drive down FALU sector emissions at scale. ENOUGH’s signature ABUNDA product is up to 15 times more efficient than other protein sources, thanks to their proprietary technology and zero-waste production. Using up to 93% less water, 97% less feed and causing 97% fewer CO2 emissions than protein from beef. Cargill are also joining ENOUGH as an investor in their Series C funding round - which was led by World Fund and CPT Capital. The second #Bayer, #Yara and other synthetic producers are involved, goals to regenerate soil are dead. You can move the needle a bit, but you cannot make the big changes necessary because their existence is contrary to your desired outcome. These synthetic fertilizer producers, producers of GMO seeds and biocides are Big Oil in Ag. They’ve jumped on the Regen Ag ship because they can point to tillage as being the evil practice and thereby secure the continued role of glyphosate and other synthetics, while stilll carrying on killing the soils but claiming to be regenerative. This is the problem with no definition. There’s no fundamental paradigm shift with them on board. If you want to spend the next 30 yrs with them arguing every little thing, then that’s your preogative but think where we’d be now if we’d been more forceful on Big oil in the 1980s and 90s.
