This scenario also happens when humans drive, but when people drive there is no question of accountability, Who will be responsible for havoc, death and injuries caused by a #selfdriving car on a public road? Insurance companies will be the first to dodge. So who is responsible? The person in the car who handed over the tedious task of driving? The owner of the vehicle? The producer of the vehicle? The supplier of a subsystem? Or some clown CEO of the OEM or supplier? Regardless, for the later three cases there will be endless funds for an army of highly paid lawyers to keep the #hybris and #pyramid going. At the end of the day, there is a huge difference between throwing a smartphone at a group of people on a pedestrian crossing, compared to hit those people with a 2000kg "Full" Self "Driving" vehicle, which might even lack proper brakes, and this is something #legacy OEMs understand.
➡️ A lot of sensors on that vehicle - and still it produces such a result … ➡️ It drives “like a real person that realized it made a big mistake”. At first. ➡️ Question 1: would love to know what in the algorithm made the vehicle - drive in - turn left - and move on ➡️ Question 2: if you have an algorithm you can search for that (somehow…..) but what of your system is “just AI-trained”: where do your start ? Any ideas on both questions ? Note on the mostly excellent comments (thank you !): this is not a typical event, otherwise these vehicles would not be on the road. It is a corner case that by chance was caught on video. As this happened very recently, I think it is indicative which (extremely rare) cases are still possible. LG just announced a new AI-powered robot assistant referred to as the ‘smart home AI agent,’ featuring autonomous mobility to help manage smart homes — and is set to debut at the company’s CES Conference in January. The robot features a distinctive two-legged wheel design, enabling independent navigation through various rooms, and it possesses the capacity to express emotions and learn through multi-modal AI technology. Equipped with cameras, sensors, and a Qualcomm AI chip, the device adeptly analyzes home data. Its capabilities include recognizing human faces, pets, and household objects while also gathering data on temperature and air quality. Beyond these features, the robot extends its in-home functionalities to control appliances, serve as a security guard, and monitor pets. Additionally, it takes on various user-specific tasks such as medication reminders and providing schedule updates, showcasing a versatile and integrated approach to enhancing home life. This robot assistant sounds like quite the upgrade from dated Alexas, Google Homes, etc. — and could be the first smart device to take advantage of the advances in AI tech. Is this the beginning of a new in-home AI revolution? #ai #artificialintelligence #innovation #datascience
