Real patriotism means striving to make our nation better. And that starts with listening more because understanding occurs when we truly hear each other.
‘This country’? LinkedIn is multi-national. Hello? The problem, Mr Sinek — the pick of the polycrisis — isn’t too much nationalism, or to little patriotism, it is a surfeit of proactivity, planet-wide. The Proactive Establishment is out of control. The world is WAY too pushy. Excessive rhetoric / ideology — scaled with AI to boot — less conversation … & even less accountability 😢 The substance of your content is less important, Mr Sinek. It’s repeated ad nauseam by you, & parroted by others. The example set, however, especially to succeeding gens, is critical. To those who learn by what they see rather than by what they hear, they see you presuming to inform millions … & being accountable to not one of them. All non-engaging bot / proxy-users should hang their heads in shame. How to be non-accountable: a lesson to the Child, care of Simon Sinek, Gary Vee, et al. You are 100% proactive. Have never seen you react on LinkedIn. Not once. Too sad. The solutions aren’t in content. They are in transaction. For your penance, proclaim Global Reactives Day — one day a week where if one presumes to speak to another, one is obliged to listen to them. The internet would shut down; & there would be your solve.
I would add... listen with the intent to understand, not to respond.
Thx for your service to our USA 🇺🇸 military servants who sacrifice so much and who strive for excellence on our behalf. Thx for being another positive, GO USA 🇺🇸 , American 🇺🇸 patriotic voice and encourager. May God bless our US military, America 🇺🇸 and our world with revived hearts of love and peace.
Good Post. We would all do well to just be better listeners. Listening is most important aspect of Free Speech. Listening is the fulfilment of Free Speech. Listening is the appropriate and dignified response to free speech. Listening doesn't mean you give your consent or agreements, but it returns to you the same gift of free speech. Free Speech is so important - they put it first. As should we.
BRAVO!!!
We can't solve problems together if everyone's so focused on winning arguments.
I couldn’t agree more. Patriotism is about each of us doing our part to develop our country for the better. Better than before. Better for the future. Better for ourselves and the world. Nationalism is focused solely on one’s own country, wishing it to be better than any other. Patriotism embraces a broader view and a global mindset. Nationalism is a narrow view with a national mindset. It’s like self-care. Self-care and development are about learning and growing to be better as a human. Better than before. It’s not about “I’ll better than you”, not about becoming better just to compete with others.
Important distinction between patriotism and nationalism..
I tend to agree, the issue today is that most speak loudly to make their point. But those that are speaking the loudest and arguing have NOT taken the time to connect the dots of the actual situation. They are protecting and pushing an agenda that is often heard in a 15 sec. blurb on social media, or their info comes from a friend/family that is also echoing false or misinterpreted facts. We have become, lazy in our efforts to think for ourselves. Thinking takes work, and communicating on an interpersonal level is a skill and takes practice, both are in short supply. The issue of lack of accountability is a cancer in our society. If U mess up, stand up and say I was wrong and deal with it , make it right. Learn to listen and understand, not simply hear. The lowest form of creatures have the ability to hear but not rationalize. It's key that we use our brains and think for ourselves and make informed prudent decisions. HAPPY B'DAY AMERICA USA.

1wI think we confuse listening with agreeableness. Being a patriot doesn't necessarily mean that we have to comply. Listening also suggests how we factor in the role of dissent too.
