Executive Coach & Consultant for Lawyers, Business Professionals, Corporate Leaders | General Counsel | Legal & Business Advisor | Angel Investor | JD, MA, ACC | Podcast Host - Big Law Life
So much here that resonates with what I hear from clients - although they describe some sharper edges around the hiring decisions they see, including: * A retiring senior vice president selecting their favored candidate to succeed them in that role, after telling everyone it was an open search but making sure that this candidate was the only one internally who got the opportunities and experience deemed mandatory for the job. * Candidates for law firm partnership who have a compelling case and are told they are "close" to elevation but advised that they have to wait because it isn't their time, and there is no clarification as to when it will be - and watch as other, less qualified candidates make it easily. * Great deputies who have led and managed projects seamlessly, but who can't escape the trap of making their bosses look so good that those same bosses won't let go of them when there is a chance for those deputies to advance. So, if the reason you're stuck in the #2 slot is because you're being blocked and lack the support you deserve then being runner-up feels less like something you should brush aside and more like a basis for leaving your company or firm. #worklife #promotion #pathtopromotion #lawfirmpartner #lawfirmassociate #pathtopartnership #jobsearch #jobinterview #hiring #hiringprocess

When I left University I made it to the final four candidates to be part of the Red Arrows’ PR duo. The only civilians on the team. I didn’t get the job, but I did get to spend a whole day at RAF Scampton, watching them train and sitting in on their de-briefing, having breakfast with the pilots and being shown around the airfield. As I pulled away in my clapped-out Nissan Micra, I was fizzing with enthusiasm and a desperate desire to be part of it all - and it’s a story I still tell, 20 years on. The smartest companies recognise the power of making candidates fall in love with the business before they’ve even been offered a job. If they get offered the job at all - it still matters. Everyone who goes through the process will be telling others about you, sometimes for years to come, and what they say depends entirely on the experience you gave them. Take advantage of that and make it memorable. Granted, we don’t all have nine super-fast jets available to woo potential employees with, but the principles are the the same. Paying attention to your recruitment experience is a touchpoint that most companies overlook, yet it helps to attract the best talent and engage new employees from the get-go. What do you do to help support and engage candidates through your recruitment process? #recruitment #employeeexperience #brandstrategy Photo by Daniel Cooke on Unsplash

My primary focus has been in the world of sales. As I am invited into these businesses in 50+ industries, I have been able to quickly diagnose their issues and have discovered that the friction in their business was principally a sales problem. Without exception, the sales problem was a salesperson problem that had gone unaddressed. Once we solve the sales riddle, the rest of the organization begins to naturally flourish. During my 25+ year career working for Fortune 500 media companies, I had curated a process to find outstanding sales talent. I started the SalesPro Selection System which is the codified version of what I used to do in the corporate world and again what I instituted for my consulting clients. I have created an 18-video educational course with 10 downloadable documents that will take a hiring manager intuitively through the candidate attraction, vetting, and selection process. As professionals use this proprietary process they become disciplined hiring professionals in their own right. Schedule a consultation and take the leap towards transforming your hiring approach: https://lnkd.in/gkDM_uPY #salestraining #salestips #sales #salescoach #salesmanager

Why Hire A Staffing Agency? Trying to fill a position within your company can be a daunting task.
