Earlier this year, one of our female residents wrote a first-hand account of how she was pushed into #homelessness and her experience of life on the streets. When she came to us, she was at her lowest - but we supported her to survive and thrive through one of our specialist women's services. Mondays are for Men's Gender Equality Wow! I was totally blown away last week at the reaction to my first weekly post on men's gender equality. So, something that I was thinking wasn't talked about very much is actually talked about quite a lot in some circles and yet it hasn't quite reached the mainstream. Why? Well, I'm guessing because whilst women have been shouting loudly about gender equality for the better part of the last 50 years, men are still quietly suffering. I was also blow away by how many great male role models there are for men's gender equality. My brain is kinda swimming in all of it and just taking it all in. You know how after you see something for the first time, you can't stop seeing it everywhere? That's what this like has been for me. Including seeing this Medium article titled What if modern women cannot parent boys? Now it poses it as a question rather than a statement but I think it's a really good question. The flip question would be what if modern men cannot parent girls? But here's the thing, we've got to be looking at parenting as that, just parenting. Not comparing mothers against fathers. Parents are parents, no? Yet there seems to be so much out there about the differences and expectations of mothers and fathers. What do you think? Can we get to a place where parents are just parents? #equality #mensequality #genderroles #parents #equalparenting https://lnkd.in/d86AkaTD

Here are a few things that happened before 6:30am today: - While I was out walking, a man leaned out of his car window and barked loudly at me, whipped a u-turn, circled back, and repeated. - I had to reconnect to my wifi which treated me to seeing the names of the surrounding wifi networks, two of which were named with misogynist sentiments against women. - I read a number of posts about the experiences of a woman who was rejected for a professional role because she did not wear makeup to the interview. There is nothing whatsoever that was atypical about the first 45 minutes of my day. The gauntlet that women are forced to run on a near daily basis before we even get to work is ridiculous. And that gauntlet is exponentially worse for women of color, for trans women, for queer women, and for women with disabilities, to say nothing of what that gauntlet looks like for women who hold multiple marginalized identities. Running the daily gauntlet we are so often forced to before we even get to the officeโbe it physical or virtualโis exhausting. Imagine what we could do if the daily gauntlet wasn't costing us so much. N.b. Misogynist, sexist, racist, ableist, homophobic, transphobic, etc. comments will be deleted. #WomenLeaders #GenderEquality #WomenAtWork #WomenInLeadership #WomenInEverything -- As always, thoughts and views are my own and do not represent those of my current employer.

๐๐ Embrace Empowerment and Sisterhood ๐๐ Ladies, let's talk about the beauty and strength that comes from supporting one another! In a world where sisterhood should be our greatest asset, let's leave behind the playground antics and rise together. ๐คโจ ๐ซ๐คทโ๏ธ Unfortunately, some girls and women learn bad habits at a young age. Do not carry this attitude into adulthood. Playground antics undermine the incredible power we possess when we unite. Instead of tearing each other down, let's build bridges, uplift spirits, and celebrate the achievements of our fellow women. ๐๐ช ๐ญ๐ Supporting women isn't just about solidarity; it's a revolutionary act that breaks stereotypes, shatters glass ceilings, and paves the way for a future where every woman can thrive. When we stand together, there's nothing we cannot conquer! We are stronger together. So, let's choose kindness over competition, collaboration over comparison, and love over rivalry. ๐โจ #WomenSupportingWomen #UnityOverJealousy #EmpowerNotCompete #WomeninLaw

Share Your Story with Your Son: A Call to Action for Change Every story holds the power to shape a better future. As parents, mentors, and role models, we have a profound responsibility to guide the next generation. Today, I want to urge all fathers, mothers, and guardians to share their stories with their sons. ๐ฌ Tell them about your experiences, the challenges you faced, and the lessons you learned. Open their eyes to the realities that many women endure daily, and instill in them the values of respect, empathy, and equality. Let's ensure that what happened to you, or to women you know, doesn't happen to another woman. ๐ By educating our sons and raising them to be conscious and compassionate individuals, we can contribute to a world where every woman feels safe, respected, and valued. Your story can be the catalyst for change. Let's start the conversation today. ๐ #Empowerment #GenderEquality #ShareYourStory #RaiseGoodMen #BreakTheCycle #LinkedInCommunity

Last week, we worked on a challenging brief in Shubham Gune's Copywriting Camp. We had to write a headline ad convincing the TG why menstrual leaves are important. Did we want to start a controversy? No. A conversation? Yes. Didn't women fight to be included in a man's world, asking to remove the stigma around menstruation? Why ask for a leave? Isn't this hypocrisy? As a woman who doesn't have painful periods (thankfully) but knows enough women who do, here's the simple difference. Earlier, the fight was for normalizing menstruation; this time, it's about addressing the invisibility of the experience. There are countries that have already implemented the policy. And Boy! This hasn't affected their work productivity. Working standards have always been set around the physiology of men. This is asking you to consider us in all our being. But several women don't support menstrual leaves. Yeah, they can bugger off. I do not experience dysmenorrhea.ย That doesn't mean others* don't. A staggering 50% of menstruating women go through it every month. Imagine being punched in the gut repeatedly and then being asked to go about your daily life. Weird, no? (*Others: there are people from the LGBTQ community who do not identify themselves as women but undergo equally painful periods.) #copywriting #menstrualleave #periodpolicy

As we move into 2024, what is our focus? What's the Main Thing we are looking to do this week, this month this year? I suggest that we focus not just on connecting with persons but rekindling those meaningful connections in our lives and businesses. How are we connecting and uplifting others? Are we reaching back out to those we have been in contact with or lost touch with? Consider some simple acts of kindness by just calling and saying "hi" or asking how someone is doing that you haven't spoken with in a while. Every action creates ripples of positivity that help with meaningful connection. Continue to connect If you'd like a real connection with other Christian Women in Business - please let me know. We have developed the group Women in Faith and Enterprise (W.I.F.E.) where we support each other and share information as we continue our connection with one another -- and to help one another further our businesses together. #ConnectionsMatter #SpreadJoy #SpiritualGoals
