As the primary recruiting staffer for Faith Baptist School, I regularly receive candidate information to sift through and pass judgement on. Being a Baptist school, deriving our existence from Faith Baptist Church in Salisbury, Maryland, our school chooses to be highly selective in who it chooses to bring onto the team. The question to be answered by our hiring team is this; what are the parameters by which we make hiring decisions? For candidates to our small school, a born-again testimony of salvation is critical to ensure the proper functioning of this school as a place of both "secular" and spiritual learning. Similarly I would strongly suggest that self-consistency is crucial to the operation of any system. But at your current company, how important is it to make sure that each new hire actually believes in the mission?

Good. 👏🏽 College isn’t for everyone. And it’s not a good use of money and time for everyone. While I appreciate how much my college experience and studies helped me be a good cop applicant, it was more about my relationships, extra curriculars, time management, communication, and work in tandem that helped me mature as a young adult. We see all kinds of fantastic cops through generations that come from military, corrections, EMS, caretaking, social work, trades work, service industry you name it. This is a perfect example of widening the net rather than lowering the bar for police hiring. #policenews #policehiring #howtobeacop #adapting

Church work isn't just a "first career" vocation. Many move in to church work as a second, third or even fourth career. Maybe that's where you are also being led? Check out lcms.org/sas to learn more about how you could serve.

"Why Did You Join The Idaho Army National Guard?" Roughly four years ago, I made the big move from my home state of Alaska to Boise, ID. At the time, I was only 18 years old and fresh out of high school. I had graduated a semester early with the intent of joining the Alaska Army National Guard but with all plans, that changed. Was it for the better? I truly believe so. At the peak of quarantine, I was lost. I believe we all were at that point. Desperation started to creep in to find some job to get me outside of the four walls that seemed to grow smaller and smaller everyday. As things slowly started to open up, I applied for everything; "Beggers cant be choosers". The search was extensive and I was growing more concerned with bills that unemployment couldnt keep up with. Becoming a hostess and busser at The Cheesecake Factory became a saving grace in that time and soon, working part-time as a Newborn Hearing Screener as well. However, my young self longed for something deeper. Watching war movies and seeing people in uniform serving the community nagged at me, but in a good way. That itch that never went away, was right in front of me everywhere I went. I wanted to wear that uniform and I wanted to do something bigger for myself. I had no idea that I was living in a military heavy state! Knowing deep down that this was my calling, I had to walk through that storefront. Filling out that thick application that was decorated with bold yellow letters spelling "Army" was the most thrilling thing I had ever done. So why did I choose the Army National Guard and not active duty? Personally, I got tired of moving. I had moved so much throughout my life. The rush of a new state no longer felt as exciting as it had before. Also, I had a little girl who needed some stability and a strong female role model active in her life. The idea that I only had to sacrifice 5-6 months for initial training was appetizing. Everyone needs that sense of fullfilment. I get that through my service to community and country at the comfort of my home state. To add, I now have the opportunity to help those who are in the same situation I was in. Not to add to the cliche, but hearing that I helped a junior in high school find a sense of purpose tugged at my heart strings. I found community. I found fullfilment. I found stability. I found a career. Would you be willing to take the call too? #army #armynationalguard #idaho #idahoarmynationalguard #military #armystrong

Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA), a conservative group that opposes affirmative action, has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, alleging that the school's race-conscious admissions process is unconstitutional. SFFA argues that West Point's admissions process gives an unfair advantage to Black and Hispanic applicants, and that it violates the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause. West Point has defended its admissions process, arguing that it is necessary to create a diverse student body that reflects the American population. The school also argues that its admissions process is fair and that it does not discriminate against any group of applicants. The lawsuit is still in its early stages, and it is unclear how it will be resolved. However, the case could have significant implications for affirmative action in college admissions. If SFFA is successful, it could lead to the end of affirmative action at West Point and other military academies. It could also have a broader impact on affirmative action at colleges and universities across the country. Agree or disagree with what we said? Community Service and National Service. Through continued research, It can be stated for the past 50 years, that only 32% of high school graduates that attend college will earn a degree. Let that sink in for a moment. Not every high school graduate enrolled in college, but a vast majority have. It is my contention that they simply are not ready for life adjusting decisions. Educators have provided the “what” in content delivery, but not the why. A program that should enhance a persons decision making attitude as well as the need to form “a more perfect Union” would be one that incorporates community/national service. Consider requiring every high school junior to initiate a call to service by providing a community service project as part of a team. Expand that motion post secondary by requiring 2 years of a national service. Americorp or the military (in a supportive and non-combative role). Upon completion they could be provided with grants for 2 years of college, industry certification programs, or a trade school. Thoughts?

The Secret Email System is a shortcut. Before I created the BMG10 Method – I was struggling with my online business for years and was on the verge of giving up. I was working 60-80 hour weeks, chasing and talking to clients at all hours of the day – including weekends. I built myself a job I never signed up for. Which led me to questioning everything and eventually turning the entire online business model upside down, breaking all the rules and freeing me from the chains of “running a business”. After several years of trial-and-error, testing everything and figuring things out the hard way – without anyone guiding me I’ve finally reached a point where I turned my online business into a machine that operates without me. Now, you have the opportunity to duplicate the entire Secret Email System I built by downloading a $5.60 ebook called the Secret Email System. https://lnkd.in/drUyapyv Activate to view larger image,

Just read a great interview with a friend and former boss of mine, David Baker. I worked for him back in the late 80s and still remember so much of what he taught me. One of the best bosses and people you would ever have the pleasure of knowing. Here are three tips from the interview. 1. If it doesn’t scare you, it probably isn’t nearly hard enough. Don’t take the easiest path; instead choose the path where you’ll learn the most in the shortest time. 2. You are important and have a big impact on those around you, so always be respectful and considerate. No one reaches their full potential alone, so make friends and keep in touch with them. Learn to both give and receive help graciously and stay in touch with people because you will see them again, perhaps several times. 3. Read policies and contracts for yourself, then read them again. Don’t rely solely on others’ interpretations or memories of what they say. Here is the link to the full interview. One thing that has impressed me the most is his adherence to tip #2. He has always kept in touch or when I've contacted him, he always made time for me, even when he was in very senior positions and he hadn't seen me in a decade or so. #careertips #careerhelp #executivethoughts Alumni who inspire: David Baker | Statler College Media Hub | West Virginia University (wvu.edu)
