The Neighbourhood Academy is the space that Pécs Community Foundation, serving the city of Pécs in Hungary, created to bring people and organisations in the community together and foster conversations. In the past couple of years, the Academy gathered especially older people who wanted to explore, along with others, how they are living the community life, what their roles could be and how to foster intergenerational dialogue and fight isolation. Embarking on a transformative journey of civic empowerment, Lahanti, Ayo Aidari Trust, and Gram Jyoti have come together for an enlightening training on Constitution, Democracy, and Decentralization. From the 24th to the 26th of November in Dumka, this collaborative effort seeks to cultivate a profound understanding of constitutional principles among participants. With a shared vision, the organizations aim to empower individuals, instilling the knowledge and skills necessary for active and meaningful participation in democratic processes. This training serves as a catalyst for fostering a sense of civic responsibility, ensuring that individuals not only comprehend the intricacies of governance but also feel equipped to engage actively in shaping their communities. The focus extends beyond theory to practical application, with a special emphasis on effective and decentralized governance. Participants will delve into the dynamics of local decision-making processes, understanding how decentralized systems contribute to community development and responsive governance.
