We are always sharing our knowledge with others. As you share your knowledge, especially in more formal ways, remember the following tips to help ensure you are sharing learning content thats relevant to your learners: 1) Strive for excellence for your content. If you're going for perfection, you're focusing on you not your learner. So you're already misaligned. 2) Check with your audience. Make sure you have a focus group (even if it's small) to give you feedback on the content you are developing. It's essential to have the learners perspective drive your development. 3) Iteration is everything to stay relevant. But feedback from your audience is key to iteration. Encourage all the feedback you can so your iteration process and content can get better over time. https://lnkd.in/gFubnY5m

When we train others, it's vitally important to understand HOW your message is to be received. When teaching/Coaching/Mentoring another individual or group of individuals... don't think "I need them to hear what I say". But rather take the time to develop an approach to have the message understood by your audience. Jokes, Storytelling, interpretation, sign language, handouts, voice augmentation, or braiille... any way to get the message understood.
Reimagining Digital Accessibility that grows your bottom line impact | Driven by Purpose & Passion | Collaborative Stakeholder Engagement | Learning & Development | Organizational Development
Learning & Development must be designed to communicate visually, viscerally, and verbally if you want to significantly increase outcomes. "We're inclusive: I did the perfect video, with great pictures and some cool music. I don't have time or budget to explain the video or put voiceover's in though." "My training was amazing. I put some great slides together with pictures. I pointed at stuff when I talked through my presentation, so I'm sure they got the connection." People learn and receive information very differently. Some need to see pictures Some need to hear how "those pictures" align with what they are learning. Most don't really get something unless it is visceral-they can feel it. I've always used a collaborative learning approach when facilitating such efforts, as if designed correctly: It includes a handout for people who need to see it. It includes me giving the instructions, for those who need to hear it (and maybe can't read). And, the experiential activity lets learners practice it, feel it, and incorporate it into their everyday approaches going forward. They learn by doing. Whether trying to be inclusive of all people in your learning and development programs, or even for those of you trying to promote yourself, get the best impact by communicating verbally, visually, and viscerally. It's more than accessibility, it's equity. Doesn't everyone deserve to learn? #facilitation #learning #OrganizationDevelopment #LearningDesign #culture

Unleashing Learner Retention: Crafting Engaging Workshops . Do you need help to keep your learners engaged and ensure they retain the knowledge you impart? Do you want to deliver workshops only to find that the information doesn't stick? 🤔 . Studies suggest that learners need to remember a significant portion of what they learn quickly. This "forgetting curve" can undermine your workshops' effectiveness, hindering knowledge transfer. Ensuring learner retention and engagement is crucial for successful workshops. Let's explore how to achieve both: . 1. Multisensory Learning Experiences 👀👂 Engage multiple senses through visuals, interactive activities, and hands-on exercises. This approach reinforces information, creating memorable learning experiences. . 2. Spaced Repetition and Review 🔄 Break down content into chunks and revisit key concepts periodically. Spaced repetition and review reinforce learning, improving retention. . 3. Personalized Approach 👤 Tailor content and delivery to your audience's needs, interests, and learning preferences. Personalization increases relevance and engagement, helping learners connect with the material. . 4. Storytelling and Real-Life Examples 📖 Incorporate storytelling and practical examples to make content relatable and memorable. Personal anecdotes, case studies, and scenarios aid understanding and application. . Effective workshops lead to increased productivity, better decision-making, and enhanced performance for your learners.
