Well we have seen this happen unfortunately 🙃

Yep, it is totally demoralizing and soul-crushing for hardworking, ethical, talented, competent individuals to see individuals who have manipulated their way into a promotion move up the chain. It shows a lack of judgment by leadership and destroys trust. They will pull back their energy, put that toward job searching and soon be out the door. Bravo, bravo! - Lauri

It's a person's deeds that promote him or her. No one can promote another or it can only for time being. People often remember a person with their actions, values , knowledge , skills, ideas and behaviours (reactions).

That’s called Work place bullying!! Companies don’t even realise the value erosion - their loss 🤷🏼♀️

This is so true. The reason why this happens is that by promoting the "wrong" people, people who really want to give their "best" see the organization not aligning with their values and ethics. It is extremely demoralizing.

Sadly, many large organizations work this way, even today. We all see this visibly in public institutions, never mind what happens in business.

Put up or shut up can work both ways, but if bad managers support bad behaviour, as part of the norm  it can be very difficult

I have seen it many times. It is crippling to an organization. But it continues.

Surely, unless it’s blindingly obvious, one person’s best person will inevitably be another person’s wrong person.
