Interesting 'teaser' from Deutsche Telekom ahead of #mwc24 pitching the concept of an "app-free AI smartphone". There are some strong similarities to the approach taken by the rabbit inc. R1. Adding that functionality to a smartphone was something my colleague Leo Gebbie predicted after #ces2024. Deutsche Telekom is partnering with Qualcomm and Brain Technologies, Inc. to show a concept device (expected to be a variant of Telekom's T Phone) with an AI-powered assistant that it claims can "replace the countless apps on the smartphone" citing examples such as planning trips, shopping, creating videos and editing photos. Definitely one I plan to take a look at in Barcelona. As expected, AI is going to be a prominent theme at the show - the challenge is going to be understanding what is adding real value and what is AI-rinsing. Dee Kaul, Shaun Collins, Kester Mann

Evolving expectations, expanding device capabilities and AI integrations are changing digital experiences at the speed of information. Can a device management platform that was born in the days of Blackberry and Blockbuster really keep up? We wouldn't bet our business on it. @springdel #mdm4ai #digitalinteractions #saynotolegacy

Just like in the metaverse, they’re trying to sell us something no one wants or asks for. Every now and then there's a new buzzword in the market that people get irrational about; today it's A.I., before it was EV, before then crypto, mobile, world wide web, digital, diet, ect. Many things that are "AI Powered" don't actually do anything special, or many do not have anything AI under the hood, but if they throw the word AI in their product, sales skyrocket, so tons of companies just plaster the words on everything. And as you point out, they try to create a problem to fix, which no one wants.

Just announced at CES, this RabbitR1 seems to be doing some very interesting stuff. Highlighted features include: - Dynamic adaptation and learning from user interactions, allowing training for specialized tasks such as Photoshop photo editing. - Seamless management of music, ride requests, grocery shopping, messaging, and more through a unified interface. - Harmonious compatibility with existing apps, mastering their usage autonomously, eliminating the need for specific APIs or developer assistance. Priced at just $199 this can be a gamechanger. The only thing I feel is that people may not like to keep an extra gadget on top of their phones. And, sooner or later, cell phone companies are going to add all these functionalities to their devices too. So now the race that the cell phone companies will be running for will be much more related to the software, than the hardware perhaps. Let's see. Interesting times to live in though. #ces2024 #AI
