Russian tennis players will be allowed to enter 2024 Olympics as neutral athletes — ITF Neutral athletes should comply with the IOC’s AIN and the IPC’s NPA principles March 7/ The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has allowed Russian and Belarusian tennis players to compete at the 2024 Olympics in Paris as neutral players, the ITF press service reported. "The International Olympic Committee and International Paralympic Committee will allow qualified and eligible athletes with Russian and Belarusian passports to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN) and Paralympic Games as Neutral Paralympic Athletes (NPA). The ITF confirms that tennis players from these nations will be allowed to enter the Olympic and Paralympic tennis competitions in an individual and neutral capacity if they comply with the IOC’s AIN and the IPC’s NPA principles. Neutral athletes will need to meet the selection and eligibility requirements as set out in the applicable ITF Regulations," the ITF press service said in a statement. In late March 2023, the International Olympic Committee recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes be allowed to participate in international competitions only in a neutral status, and only those who have not publicly spoken out in support of the special operation in Ukraine and are not associated with security forces. Also, Russians and Belarusians cannot compete in team competitions. The Olympic Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11. #business #finance #financialservices

Russian players’ neutral status at tennis tournaments On February 28, 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) issued recommendations to international sports federations to bar athletes from Russia and Belarus from taking part in international tournaments, citing Moscow’s special military operation in Ukraine as the reason. Following the IOC’s recommendations in late February 2022, the majority of global sports federations decided to bar athletes from Russia and Belarus from all international sports tournaments. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) ruled on March 1, 2022 to suspend the membership of the Russian and Belarusian national tennis federations while also cancelling all previously scheduled tennis tournaments in the two countries. On March 14, 2022, the ITF also confirmed its prohibition of the Russian and Belarusian national tennis teams from the 2022 Davis Cup and 2022 Billie Jean King Cup. However, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) allowed tennis players from Russia and Belarus to continue participating in WTA and ATP tournaments, but only under a neutral status. Andy Murray Bids Farewell as Tennis Stars Shift Focus to Olympic Clay Court Showdown Just two weeks after the grass courts of Wimbledon, tennis stars are shifting their focus back to the clay of Roland Garros, preparing for the Olympic tennis events set to commence on Saturday. The French Open venue will host the competitions, where athletes vie for Olympic gold medals. Andy Murray, a two-time Olympic singles gold medallist, is set to retire from professional tennis following his appearance in Paris. Murray, who has been grappling with injuries and has undergone multiple surgeries in recent years, including for a cyst on his spine, will bid farewell to the sport after nearly two decades on tour. Despite his struggles, he remains passionate about tennis, having previously achieved significant milestones including his gold medals at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. Rafael Nadal, another prominent name in the tennis world, will be competing in the Olympics alongside Carlos Alcaraz in the doubles event. Nadal, known for his dominance on clay courts with 14 Grand Slam titles, is aiming to add to his Olympic successes from 2008 and 2016. Although Nadal has been plagued by injuries and a recent drop in form, his experience and previous victories make him a formidable competitor. The Olympics will also spotlight ongoing tensions in tennis related to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The competition has seen controversies, with Ukrainian players often refusing to shake hands with Russian and Belarusian opponents. In Paris, Russian players can only participate as neutrals if they have demonstrated no public support for the war. However, some players, such as Elena Vesnina, have faced criticism for their perceived support of the conflict, highlighting the broader geopolitical issues intersecting with the sport. #Tennis #Olympics2024 #AndyMurray #RafaelNadal #CarlosAlcaraz #FrenchOpen #TennisLegends #OlympicTennis #SportsNews #TennisUpdate

A new Chinese Sports Superstar is born! Zheng Qinwen's spectacular performance in this year's Australian Open has captured the attention of Chinese tennis fans and could signify the rise of a new Chinese sports superstar. Along with other up-and-coming Chinese players, Zheng is leading a resurgence of the sport in China, which is a massive boost for the growth of tennis participation and fan base in the country, and the sports economy as a whole. The politically charged scenario that the WTA faced in China a couple of years ago, with the Peng Shuai issue, and struggles with the pandemic event cancellations, have been brushed aside and the commercial juggernaut, the Chinese sports market represents for international rights holders is now chugging along nicely again. #tennis #chinasports #sportseconomy #sportsmarketing #WTA #china Tennis Australia Australian Open Chinese Tennis Association WTA ATP Tour ATP Media https://lnkd.in/esaJhbRB

China's Table Tennis' dominance in the Olympics is unbelievable. - TT was introduced in the 1988 Olympics and in these last 10 games, China's men's team has won 7 Golds and 6 silvers in the singles category. No other country has won the Women's singles category. All 10/10 Gold medals and 8/10 Silver medals have gone to China. - TT team's category was introduced in 2008 and no other team has won the Gold medal in both Men's and Women's category. - In the Paris Olympics 2024, China has not just won the Gold medal in the Men's and Women's Team's category but they have done it one-sided, winning all their matches by 3-0 margin. India's dominance in Hockey from 1928-1956 comes close to this but that faded. Australia's world cup dominance doesn't come close to either of these. #tabletennis #olympics #parisolympics
