Hi Friends among the Rockies!  The CSAE Annual Conference is coming up in a few months and it’s recruiting time for our ever popular Silent Auction. We are appealing to your generous hearts and asking that you please contribute to our biggest fundraiser of the year. Our silent auction helps to support programs, education, networking events, and all things CSAE. Our 2023 silent auction during our 1st night reception was so much fun. The CSAE Annual Conference silent auction takes place during our first night welcome reception. At the silent auction last year, there were elbows thrown, hoorays and sighs, but most of all was the level of excitement everyone feels about winning one or more of our outstanding donations. We’re making it so easy to donate: Can’t decide what to donate? Tell us what number on the donation list (click on ‘donation list for the hyperlink) you want to donate or if have your own creative idea, fill out the donation sheet here Survey Monkey  https://lnkd.in/gbuy_QyK  and the committee will mark you down.   FAQ’s: -Donation items need a value. We value all of our donations. If you want us to bundle you item with another basket or theme idea, just let us know. You’ll still get lots of credit on our donation list. -Pick up/delivery of items prior to the conference. It’s easiest on the committee if we have at least your description of the donation, value and who is donating put in Survey Monkey https://lnkd.in/gbuy_QyK  prior to arrival so we can have your bid sheet ready. Bring your item with you, let us know where to pick it up or any special instructions we need to get your item.   -Expirations. Please have a year window of availability if donating items that expire, such as hotel room nights. College #NIL opportunities have changed college sports. To succeed, fundraising groups driven by sponsor donations must adopt subscription and membership best practices. Optimizing the full journey for sponsors is key. CONSIGNMENT ITEMS Are they a good fit for your live auction lineup? There is no right or wrong, good or bad when it comes to consignment items. They can be the right fit for certain events and they are not the right fit for other events. HOW do you know if a consignment item will work in your live auction line up? You don’t, UNTIL you have meaningful conversations with your auctioneer, a representative from the consignment company, and the team responsible for planning the event. Each lens needs to be presented and listened to as they are all valuable. Ultimately it’s up to the non profit to decide if they pull in consignment items during the event. If we don’t have these robust conversations, we run the risk of making decisions that might not work for the non profit or the guests who are attending the event. I recently instituted a new program for our firm regarding donations to non-profit organizations and business memberships. In the past, I would just randomly donate to local charitable organizations as I saw fit. And predictably they would come back next year asking for a higher amount of partnership, "sure, no problem. or not this time" would be my typical response. Then as we gained traction more organizations saw our name and we received a staggering amount of requests for donations, sponsorships, and funding. Eventually I was reviewing 4-6 requests per month, trying to figure out how it aligns with my goals, and it was a bit much. So my new system provides all of my colleagues with a pre-approved budget and THEY get to choose the size and type of partnerships with local organizations, I just write the check and they do the rest. If they want to join a local non-profit board they get paid to be there. If they want to spread that money thin to five different organizations or put it all together and try to make a big difference, that is their decision and they already have pre-approval. I want our firm to support the organizations that are important to them, and I also want my team to be invested in the local community and will give them the resources to do so. As a side note I no longer have to deal with the decision when another non-profit comes in the office with their hand out. Their request simply goes around the office and if someone wants to use their budget they make a choice. And I get to focus my time on projects, training, and business decisions. We will see how this goes by the end of the year.
