Renaissance: a revival of or renewed interest in something. This month's Uptake explores the rising interest in diagnosing cardiac amyloidosis. Once thought to be rare, this cardiac condition is driving the demand for Tc-99m pyrophosphate (PYP) scans. With its increased sensitivity and specificity, this nuclear medicine scan can diagnose cardiac amyloidosis noninvasively and with less risk, and the rise in accurate diagnosis has also spurred treatment innovations. Will these scans continue to be in demand? Find out in this month's Uptake! Thanks to this month's Uptake authors Jaime Warren, Ed.D, MBA, MHS, CNMT, FACC, and Mary Beth Farrell, Ed.D, CNMT, NCT, RT(N), FSNMMI-TS. Thankful to be a contributing part of the Nuclear Medicine community to aid in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment for Cardiac Amyloidosis. The Tc99m-PYP scan is a non-invasive study with both high sensitivity and specificity in detecting the disease. Once these patients are diagnosed, new treatments aid in halting the disease progression, allowing for an increased quality of life as well as extending their life. Great article from SNMMI: https://lnkd.in/eGbiamFk #nuclearmedicine #snmmi #asnc

The non-perfusion molecular imaging space in nuclear cardiology is getting interesting with novel and not so novel imaging probes with PET/CT and SPECT/CT imaging… and the integrated PET/MRI scanners further open the door for more robust evaluation of the heart ❤️ in one go. At the recently concluded 3rd WCCICC congress, many such advances were presented with several engaging sessions and wonderful speakers. The WCCICC TV captured some of the key messages from this congress quite well. Looking forward to further developments in this space as heart failure patients continue to increase in number globally, and with novel treatments for cardiac amyloidosis and other heart failure etiologies, accurate non-invasive assessment of these conditions is crucial for early diagnosis as well as assess response to treatment. https://lnkd.in/edqtjTbX #nuclearmedicine #nuclearcardiology #emoryradiology #WCCICC2023

CTS series(Clinical Theranostics Specialist) Share my readings and my thoughts. 6-week interval, it will be written in the guideline
We can do better than a fixed set of 6 cycles of LuPSMA at a 6-week time interval ! Great multicenter data of >100 patients from Germany with beautiful swimmer plots just published in The Journal of Nuclear Medicine - JNM. Treatment holidays and extended use of LuPSMA can prolong survival in some patients. Happy to open our phase 2 trials FLEX-MRT NCT06216249 and RE-LuPSMA NCT06288113 at UCLA Health with Novartis. #theranostics #PSMA #nuclearmedicine https://lnkd.in/ephE49-K Johannes Czernin Thomas Hope Louise Emmett Michael Hofman Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI)

Can AI combined with SPECT/CT myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) effectively predict hospitalization for acute heart failure? According to a team of U.S. researchers, the answer is yes. A recent study published in The Journal of Nuclear Medicine - JNM represents, to our knowledge, the first evidence demonstrating that integrating SPECT MPI into an AI-based risk assessment algorithm significantly improves the prediction of hospitalizations due to heart failure. You can read more about this interesting breakthrough here: https://lnkd.in/gacjSFEe #NuclearMedicine #Radiopharmaceuticals #HeartHealth

We are a podcast dedicated to the Radiology profession that highlights the Radiologist Assistant role as part of the industry and the patients we all serve together.
This is extremely important for getting our patient the care and imaging they need that is detrimental for their treatment and planning. Write your legislators today! Don’t have time; they did the work for you! Did it from my phone in less than 30 seconds! #patientcare #accesstocare #supportingpatientneeds #submityoursupport #nuclearmedicine #legislation #timewellspent
Last month, professionals and advocates from all of the country gathered at Capitol Hill, we educated and advocated on the impact of three important topics. The first topic was THE FIND ACT. The FIND ACT is now more important than ever as the field of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging has entered an era of growth furthering the sector of precision medicine. However, due to CMS bundling our specialized isotopes as a "supply", many organizations cannot absorb the financial loss. This has limited access to this care. The organizations that do perform the more specialized imaging, either absorb the cost or switch to the latest radiopharmaceutical coming out for commercial use because of pass through. <---- this in particular is bothersome as we should switch as the radiopharmaceuticals IMPROVE patient outcomes not because CMS establishes a limited reimbursement window. Please follow the link below to send a pre-drafted letter to your state legislators.

31st March : World Theragnostics Day ! Best wishes of ‘World Theragnostics day’ to all healthcare professionals & especially to the Nuclear medicine fraternity . THERApy + diaGNOSTICS = THERAGNOSTICS. The theragnostics journey began on 31st of March 1941, when Dr Saul Hertz administered radioiodine to a patient of thyroid disorder & hence this day is marked as 'World theragnostics day'. Sharing our poster Dr. Mukta Kulkarni Joshi on the occasion of the WTD. therapy. Spread the word !
