How are beauty, truth and goodness fundamentally linked to the universal values of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Daniel Asia, president of The Center for American Culture and Ideas, sat down with us to share how they promote American intellectual engagement. He explains, “We also believe that all politics is downstream of culture. If you do not understand the arts, you will not understand the relationship between culture and politics. People who are elevated by the arts will come to politics with a different sensibility than those who are not. Most importantly, it gives more and greater meaning to their lives.” https://bit.ly/3OBHpJY

ICF Accredited Leadership Coach | Creative Uprising Founder | Advisor | Helping professionals in the creative, educational, and cultural sectors find flow and grow
Let me introduce you to Priscilla, a remarkable client who faced a common struggle we all share: comparing herself to others and having it sabotage her self-esteem. Priscilla, a talented pianist herself, would watch a virtuoso breeze through Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 and immediately think, "I'm so bad at piano." But here's the twist: she never considered the countless hours of daily practice and the pianist's lifelong dedication to the instrument. Similarly, Priscilla focused on the time it took to earn her bachelor's degree, forgetting to give herself credit for this remarkable achievement. Through our work together, we learned that comprehensive comparisons are key. Priscilla started comparing herself not just based on her weaknesses but also her strengths. She realized that she had triumphed over numerous financial hardships that her peers hadn't encountered. As she delved into statistics about the challenges faced by those whose parents didn't attend college in pursuing a bachelor's degree, she found a sense of pride in her journey. A family friend shared a valuable insight: life's only true deadline is when we pass away; all other markers and timelines are ones we set for ourselves. This realization helped Priscilla shed her self-doubts and embrace her accomplishments with newfound confidence. 🌟🎹 #creativecoaching #creativegrowth #creativecoach #leadershipcoach #leadershipdevelopment #personaldevelopment #executivecoaching #personalgrowth

In our most recent public history talk, We had the privilege of experiencing a powerful sonic presentation by Nombuso Mathibela, that brought us to a space of understanding memory work as healing breath, medicine, and intimacy. Our guest also stated that for her, defining the role of a cultural worker and archivist was in the context of understanding, “what the role of culture is in the production of human life.” That it was in giving attention to, “who we are, who we have been, and who we want to be.” You can find more about the conversation and the full video in the below reflection titled,"Soundscapes: Archives as Extensions, Inscriptions, and Reinventions of Ourselves." https://lnkd.in/dAJzMibt

Hello everyone! I'm excited to post my first post about my website about music for emotional regulation, MusiPsych. Have you ever wondered why and how music can help us feel better? That's what my website is all about! My mission is to discuss the research into this area and raise awareness of the power music holds to help us understand ourselves emotionally, including how it can accompany us in times of mental distress. 🎵 💓 I recently published a post about emotion regulation strategies and how they may be applied while listening to music. Click the link below to check it out! https://lnkd.in/exZ4X7a3 Feel free to explore the other pages as well. Although it is still a work in progress, I have some exciting content in my WIPs folder that I hope to post soon. For instance, I recently conducted a survey asking young people about their music-listening habits and how it makes them feel better. The results were insightful in understanding the different mechanisms behind music for ER. Stay tuned for these discussions! 🙌 Wishing everyone a happy new year, let's have an awesome year ahead. 🌟

“I believe that if you have a strength, exploit it. I’m not implying that working on a weakness can’t be useful and sometimes it is absolutely necessary. However, being well-rounded usually happens on its own over time anyway. If you spend too much time working on those weaknesses, you might lose out on what your strength can do. We all have finite energy. You can choose to spend that energy however you may like, but the time it takes to do whatever you choose cannot be recovered. Your energy can be recovered perhaps, but not the time. Thus if you spend all your time working on weaknesses, that will be how your time is spent. I would rather spend time working on things utilizing my strengths, really enjoying that time I spend and not always in a constant struggle working on weaknesses.” ^ from the interview. Working with Gene is working with someone that respects my work and rather than trying to change it in the mastering process, he will do everything he can to present it better. Absolutely amazing transformations. If you have suitable work send him a message? 👇💙

The word GREATNESS is a choice. Once, a talented young musician named Ava struggled to find success in the competitive music industry. Despite her exceptional voice and skill, she felt stuck and frustrated. One day, Ava met a wise mentor who asked her, "What if greatness is not something you are born with, but something you choose every day?" Ava was intrigued. Her mentor encouraged her to focus on the process, not just the outcome. Ava began to choose greatness daily, committing to rigorous practice, learning from criticism, and persevering through setbacks. With time, Ava's hard work and dedication paid off. She started to gain recognition, and her music inspired countless fans. But more importantly, she realized that greatness was not just about achieving success, but about the choices she made every day to excel, to learn, and to make a positive impact. Ava's story spread, inspiring others to understand that greatness is not solely dependent on talent or luck, but on the choices we make. We can all choose to be great every day, in our own unique way, by committing to excellence, learning, and making a difference in the world. start practicing, develop that skillset daily and reap the benefits of greatness.
