Building California's clean energy future begins with championing carbon capture innovations today. Calpine's projects, such as the Sutter Decarbonization project, are leading this transition. Once completed, the project will capture up 95% of carbon dioxide emissions from two turbines that produce 550MW of energy, so that the facility will generate reliable, dispatchable, low-carbon electricity. The Sutter Decarbonization Project will help California and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) meet their clean energy goals while maintaining reliable energy. https://bit.ly/4fLFj60

By 2030, solar energy is forecast to see $2.8 trillion in global clean energy investment, the most across renewable energy sources. This investment in solar accounts for nearly half of the global total, with 26% going to smaller-scale “distributed” solar systems, such as rooftop solar panels across households, businesses, and other public institutions. What are you doing to invest in renewable energy sources? We are proud to partner with our utility companies for solar energy and will continue to do more each year that this becomes available. #begreen #sustainabledevelopment #solarenergy #renewables

🌍☀️⚡️💷💸 Solar remains a serious juggernaut, forecasted to attract $1.3 trillion worldwide - a 45% rise from 2022 estimates! Utility-scale projects and solar rooftops on homes and businesses will both scale up. NGESO reported GB hit new record for max solar this year (20 April 2023) with 10971 MW supporting the grid. These smashed records will become more common as we strive for a cleaner generation mix and new projects come online. 🇬🇧 🏆 The latest S&P forecast shares some very good news on the declining costs of solar power generation globally 🌞. Utility-scale solar projects are expected to see continued decreases, with the total cost falling another 21% between now and 2030. This means solar will become competitive with fossil fuels even earlier than expected in many markets 🔋. The cost of residential and commercial rooftop solar installations is forecast to drop by a sizable 32% in the next eight years. Putting panels on homes, schools and office buildings will become significantly more affordable. 🏡 Perhaps most impressively, the report predicts the total cost of solar electricity will plummet 45% by 2030 compared to 2022 numbers. This rapid improvement makes increasing reliance on solar very attainable for countries and regions everywhere 🌎. Comparing 2022 to 2023… What will 2024 bring? Grid connection matters aside; such aggressive cost reductions bode well for both businesses and consumers looking to hedge against rising energy bills by going solar. What are your solar investment plans as these prices keep falling faster than expected? ⚡️ #solar #netzero #renewableenergy #cleanenergy #trends

There are a variety of current and future fuels with the potential to significantly decarbonize Canada’s existing on-road energy mix if used in strategic ways. The CTA has ranked these actions into three tiers based on maximizing the carbon reduction of the ICE transportation fleet in both the short and long term. Several existing solutions can be scaled up at reasonable cost to achieve meaningful emission reductions. District Energy systems reduce greenhouse gas emissions by utilizing waste heat and optimizing energy conversion processes. By aggregating the thermal energy source used by multiple buildings within the system, a district energy plant can achieve significant emission reductions by reducing the use of fossil fuels and lowering the overall carbon footprint of the energy generation process. The DOE has released zero-emissions building definition, part 1 of 3. Part 1 of the definition focuses on operational emissions from energy use, setting criteria to determine whether a building generates zero emissions from energy used in building operations. Parts 2 and 3 will define zero on-site emissions from energy use, involving ensuring that direct greenhouse gas emissions from energy use equal zero; and ensuring that all energy consumed by the building is clean energy obtained through any combination of on- and off-site sources, as long as GHG emissions from that source equal zero. https://ow.ly/E23Y30sEo1g #sustainabledesign #zeroemissions #carbonemissions #emissionsreduction
