The job hunt: For me personally, it's going! I've had some great conversations with folks from across the Renewable sector. But, these things take some time! For those similarly on the hunt, don't be discouraged! The right role at the right company will come when it's meant to. Don't settle for something because you're getting antsy. There seems to be a reckoning in certain tech companies due to some over hiring during COVID, but the economy as a whole is very strong and companies are trying to to hire, especially in renewables. You'll land somewhere. Be patient! Update your resume and LinkedIn profile (and grow your network!), apply for jobs, connect with recruiters, network with former co-workers/customers/vendors/etc., and take interviews. But also, focus on yourself. Read those books you've been putting off, work out, see a movie, catch up on that show, do that project you've been putting off. Take care of your mental and physical health so you're prepared when the right role at the right company does come up! And reach out if you're not doing well! To your friends, family, or me. Unless you’re close to Profectus, you might not know that Ester Cartes, my Wife, plays a huge role in the business. In-fact, there’s a lot I wouldn’t have been able to do without her involvement. It’s an interesting topic, as a lot of people tend to recommend separating work and marriage. But based on our experience, I’d disagree. The experience of working together has not only been great in growing the business, but it’s also strengthened our relationship. It’s been a really successful decision for us, for multiple reasons: ➜ We are a young family, so we both have the same drive to support each other and our children. ➜ We share the same life goals. ➜ She knows me on such a personal level, that she understands the ups, downs and what’s going on in my world. ➜ We already had the established connection and trust that may otherwise be lacking when hiring new staff. Something I think that’s worth noting, is that when we decided that Ester would work within the business, it wasn’t a guarantee. I personally looked at her based on her experience and qualifications before all else. ➜ She has a background in Government. ➜ Experience as an Executive Assistant. ➜ Government procurement experience. ➜ Sales and customer service skills. ➜ Solid understanding of Defence and associated agencies. These are all things that were truly needed within the business at the time. It was a perfect match. Of course, the fact that we get along and work so well together was a massive benefit.

The experience of developing new technologies in such an amazing field as the space sector is incredible, and doing it surrounded by an amazing and hard-working team is a gift. Stepping back and realizing what we have achieved makes me feel very proud, and even more thinking about what comes next, because, believe me, it is exciting.⁣ ⁣  ⁣ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗗𝗖𝗦 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿?⁣ ⁣ The ADCS landscape is undergoing continuous improvements and advancements, and it is only the beginning. The space sector is no longer as select as it used to be, and for that reason more and more companies want to explore and invest in these technologies and equipment. The growing number of companies and public institutions participating, and even leading, new space missions, means that the ADCS landscape must change rapidly, following the tendency of lighter, smaller, and better performance. The future is not in front of us, it is above us, and SOLAR MEMS knows that.⁣ ⁣  ⁣ W𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗔𝗥 𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗦 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺?⁣ ⁣ If the idea of working in the space sector sounds good, imagine doing it hand by hand with a team who is almost like a family. You can't expect a plant to flourish if you never care for it. Just expecting it to flourish once you put it on the shelf is crazy. I get that maybe the last orchid, cactus, or aloe plant lasted a while when you did that. But the reality is, for them to flourish, you need to understand their needs, place them in the perfect location, and give them room to grow. Here's the flip. It's the same when a company hires. Hiring talent is one part of the equation; creating an environment where talent can thrive is another. Just expecting someone to turn up and perform at their best, stay for the foreseeable future, and enjoy work without any support systems, opportunities for growth, or learning and development is crazy.
