Since starting the Collective, we have been in awe of the support and solidarity from our movement comrades along this journey. As co-founders, we have learned the importance of creating space to reflect on where we are and where we want to go. Last month, we had a co-founder retreat to reflect on the first three years of the Collective. This retreat helped us to further refine our strands of work and name the practices moving us toward our long-term vision, including community investigation and monitoring, community education defense, and movement-policy alignment. We got to dig deeper into our growth plan for C4LL and work through what steps we want to take to continue to realize our dream of a worker self-directed organization with a horizontal decision-making structure. We ended the retreat excited about our continued evolution as a collective. We’ve seen the importance of learning from others on this radical workplace creation and wanted to share a fantastic resource: Co-Powerment: a Hybrid (or Queer?) Approach to Co-Leadership written by Senior Strategist and Principal at Collective Struggle Praxis Advisory, Geoffrey Winder. Geoffrey’s reflections on shared leadership inspire important dialogues and we highly recommend checking out the series: https://lnkd.in/gsDammKQ We turned 3 y’all! And we are thrilled.

What if we valued difference more? Listened more to different opinions and different people? Back in April our Non-Executive Director, Mo Kanjilal spoke at TEDxBrighton with a powerful talk on ‘How can we value the power in our differences?’ As well as being on our Board, Mo is Co-Creator of Watch This Sp_ce, an award-winning diversity & inclusion company. Her talk speaks from both her professional and personal experience, is honest, heartfelt and invites us to ask questions and to consider that if we were open to other perspectives that we might just find we're not all that different from each other after all. This thinking is key to how we work at Here (Care Unbound Ltd) and helps shape not only how we work together as an organisation but in ensuring the services we provide are shaped by the different people using them and what truly matters most to them. Well done Mo Kanjilal, we're so proud of you! 💜 To watch the full video click the link in the comments below 👇 #BrightonTedX #TedX #Brighton #DiversityAndInclusion

Equity Is In Action. Bringing diversity into the room isn’t just a goal; it’s an action. Asking for an extra ticket to include someone is a small yet powerful step toward uplifting others. Let’s make spaces inclusive, amplify diverse voices, and build a future where everyone feels seen and valued. DEI isn’t removable if we consistently bring our people into the opportunity. 💪🏽🤍 #EquityInAction #InclusiveSpaces #UpliftTogether

About four years ago, amid the George Floyd tragedy, a pivotal discussion ensued, sparking a crucial dialogue. This led to a candid exchange between myself and our senior officers regarding the systemic racism prevalent in our country. Following this, our inaugural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council was established, and I had the privilege of being one of its founding members. Since then, we have remained committed to fostering conversations on diversity, equity, and inclusion in our workplace. While conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion may pose discomfort, it's crucial to maintain an open-minded approach to understanding the unique struggles of others. Furthermore, these discussions should extend beyond formal settings and persist within our families, friendships, and communities to ensure widespread awareness and ongoing dialogue. #diversityequityinclusion #belonging #equalityforall #equitynow #socialjusticeeducation #represesentationmatters #culturaldiversity #diversevoices

Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Executive | Entrepreneur | Empowering Women: Visionary Leadership in Community Development | Driving Excellence: Transforming Organizations
I’ve found the people and companies that are truly committed to doing the hard things well, won’t regress to focusing on just the easy wins or the low hanging fruit. They don’t accept checking boxes or going with the path of least resistance nor will they look for ways out of their commitments. No, they forge ahead to do the hard things well: designing cultures and systems to include those that are on the fringe and those that are truly marginalized. They stay true to their values to truly impact the communities they work, live, and serve in. They aren’t always celebrated yet these are the true heroes of our world with an impact that’s felt for generations to come. To those organizations and leaders, I say a big “Thank YOU” for your actioned commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. We need you now more than ever. Continue to do the hard things well. You are the example of “Be the change you want to see in the World” #supplierdiversity #diversityandinclusion #community #communitydevelopment

An amazing event with some truly extraordinary people ❤️ It was awesome to share our message of inclusion with everyone at the CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) Inclusion Summit, and their response was EVERYTHING. People laughed, people cried, people cheered— The engagement from everyone was truly special. At the end of the talk, I received a double standing ovation... LIKE WHAT?!? That moment will forever be humbling! But, I want to briefly glimpse what we discussed because it is so important to build an inclusive company that thrives. Do something. Pay attention to your people, ask questions, listen for feedback, come up with new ideas, and most importantly, make the choice to *do something*. We've forgiven ourselves of the expectation that it will be perfect on Day 1. But we take pride in knowing that we're trying. So we'll iterate, and make Day 2 even better. We live by the motto, "It's okay that an idea didn't work out because at least you tried." And it's necessary for people to feel comfortable getting a little uncomfortable. That's how you grow. So remember, next time you fail, be proud of yourself because you tried!
Completely blown away by the inspirational Lindsay Wrege (of 321 Coffee) at #CLA's Belonging and Inclusion Summit in Phoenix, Arizona. Wow, wow, wow! Message heard. Challenge accepted. Thank you for paving a greater path for us all.
