True or false? In 2027, GoTo Foods will open a Cinnabon on the moon.   That one’s false, of course (although Cinnabon’s signature Makara cinnamon is certainly out of this world!).   While the moon may be a tad ambitious for our current growth strategy, we encourage our associates to employ a “No Limits” mindset when innovating anything from new menu items to new market locations—and we pride ourselves on seeking out nontraditional places and spaces to serve up the tastes our customers crave.   Case in point: GoTo Foods employs an entire team of folks whose job it is to connect franchisees with optimal, and at times atypical, opportunities to meet our customers where they are.   After all—if we want to connect people with their GoTo foods in their everyday lives, we have to operate franchises in the everyday places where our guests spend their time!   That’s why our Specialty Brands team, under the leadership of the phenomenal Kristen Hartman, is looking way beyond shopping malls, high-traffic towns and traditional brick-and-mortar buildings to find those train stations, military bases, amusement parks, university food courts, hospital campuses and street-side locations ripe with opportunity to put GoTo Foods in the paths of the guests we aim to serve (i.e., everybody).   Sure, we like it when our customers come to us (who doesn’t swoon over being sought out?) … but we love it when that Moe's Southwest Grill birria bowl, Auntie Anne's pretzel dog, McAlister's Deli spud or Jamba mango-a-go-go smoothie just magically appears right where our guests were hoping it would be.   That’s the magic Kristen and her team are bringing to the GoTo enterprise, and it’s the magic that keeps our franchisees going and growing, and our guests coming back again and again.    So is the moon in our future? Crumbl recently acquired the pie company Crust Club, founded by Tyler and Valerie Kukahiko in 2016. The acquisition was made because Crumbl resonated with Crust Club’s mission, which is similar to theirs, of bringing friends and family together around the dinner table. Now, Crumbl is preparing to franchise the Crust Club concept, with the first franchised location set to open in Logan, Utah on March 8th. Crust Club’s menu focuses on savory and sweet pies, including options like BBQ Mac Pot Pie and key lime pie, as well as take-and-bake meals. The brand has also undergone a refresh, adopting green and charcoal colors and emphasizing fresh ingredients and home-cooked meals. While there are no specific short or long-term goals in place for Crust Club yet, the company is positioned to fill a unique niche in the market. As Crumbl continues to expand and grow, it remains uncertain whether Crumbl locations will eventually start selling items like chicken pot pies. Currently, Crumbl and Crust Club are maintaining separate teams and headquarters, but there is potential for further acquisitions in the future. Crumbl’s successful marketing approach, including menu rotation and VIP groups, is expected to benefit Crust Club’s growth as well. With Crumbl’s focus on growth and expansion, there may be more developments on the horizon for both brands. Only time will tell what the future holds for Crumbl and Crust Club as they continue to evolve and innovate in the pie industry.
