"When was the last time you gave yourself permission to dream?" I just did a mini vision board exercise to recenter myself during a busy period. What I thought didn’t need clarity became crystal clear after just one hour of focused time on me, my thoughts, and my vision. For me, vision board exercises help: > Realign my actions with my core values. > Create a clear path forward. > Spark fulfilment by focusing on what truly matters. Here’s what I uncovered during that hour: > Health: My best days include meditation and running, so I’ve built these into a new, non-negotiable routine. > Happiness: I feel most alive when travelling and discovering new places with my family. I’ll be planning more trips, even if they’re short. > Coaching Impact: I’m passionate about helping others through coaching and finally gained clarity on my next step—a new business plan and platform launch to reach a wider audience. ✅ This is what happens when you give yourself time to reflect: You gain focus, clarity, and motivation. Here are some questions to help you gain that same clarity: 1. What brings you the most energy and fulfilment in your daily life? 2. Are your values aligned with your actions? If not, how can you change that? 3. What would your perfect day look like? 4. Who do you want to surround yourself with on your journey? 5. What small step can you take today to bring your vision to life? I’d suggest journaling or working through these questions with a friend, colleague, or coach. You might be surprised at the insights that surface! P.S. I’ve realized I’m never alone in this process. Your Life is Your Startup: Vision, Strategy, and Tactics Ever think of your life as a startup? It’s one of my favorite conversations with clients—because just like any business, your life needs vision, strategy, and action. First, think about your vision—your North Star. What do you truly want to achieve? What impact do you want to make? How do you want to contribute to the world? Vision is about finding your why and shaping the life you want. But vision alone isn’t enough. You need strategies to make it happen—whether it’s in: ~ your health, ~ relationships, ~ career, ~ or personal growth. Then comes the tactics—the specific actions you can take to move those strategies forward. And if something isn’t working? ➡ You pivot, ➡ adapt, ➡ and keep going. It’s not about getting it perfect the first time—it's about aligning everything with your bigger vision. When I work with clients, we always start with the vision—not just what title you want, but what environment makes you thrive and what values drive you. Most people jump straight to goal-setting because we’re conditioned to—New Year, new goals, right? But without a clear vision, how do you know those goals are truly yours? "I don’t know where to start with my self-development..." This is where we began yesterday at AWS in the familiar setting of the "LHR14" Holborn office, where I used to be based. I was invited to facilitate a workshop designed to help employees create a real, actionable personal career development plan. Seeing the room filled with people ready to create a vision for themselves and adapt their personal development to align with it was so powerful. To me, personal vision is the key to growth. ~ It gives direction ~ It provides clarity ~ It helps you think bigger Here are 3 key takeaways from our session: 1. Is mental health too medicalized? I've been exploring this question this week as part of my studies in neuroscience and psychology at #KingsCollegeLondon. The critique is that mental health care sometimes places too much emphasis on medication and clinical interventions. While these treatments are vital, they can overshadow the broader context of mental health—factors like: - social dynamics, - personal behaviour, and - environmental influences. The biopsychosocial model offers a more holistic view. It suggests that a person’s health is influenced by biological and psychological and social factors. This model, originally introduced by George Engel, shows us the power of balancing both medical and non-medical interventions. That’s where - mindfulness, - physical activity, and - community support come into play. These natural, often free tools can support mental wellness alongside traditional medical care. It’s about creating a more inclusive system that looks at the whole person, not just their symptoms. 👉 Here’s how to integrate both approaches: ~ Start with self-awareness and mindfulness. Are you listening to what your body and mind need? ~ Leverage your community. Connection can be just as powerful as medication. ~ Physical activity isn’t just for your body—it’s a boost for your mind too. By balancing these aspects, we can foster a more nuanced approach to mental health. What do you think?
