You can now buy and sell corporate and Treasury bonds for as little as $100. Bonds can be a compelling investment, especially with today’s high yields. Corporate debt ratios are improving, leading to higher credit ratings for corporate bonds. With the increased pools of capital (PE/VC/Private Debt) that companies have available to them, it’s no surprise that they are staying private for much longer. But in a time where there’s a growing impetus to grant retail investors access to public markets to build wealth, its key that the same energy goes into building structures and platforms that open the door for these same investors to access private markets (especially in the U.K. where the average person looks to a form of private asset - property - as their go to investment). Private markets offer an illiquidity premium, grant access to companies that are at the cusp of creating great value and tend to provide uncorrelated returns vs. traditional financial assets. More needs to be done in this space and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before you start seeing platforms rising that grant more investors access to this source of return and enterprise. #markets #privatemarkets
