I’m incredibly proud of my sister Sophia Sackey, MEng for sharing her story about beating the odds and winning her fight against NMDA Auto-immune Encephalitis. Her drive and determination kept her alive and it’s that same drive and determination that carried her through her studies, helping her achieve a first class Masters degree in civil engineering and now she’s thriving in her new role as a graduate engineer at Ringway Jacobs. I wanted to congratulate one of our team members Sophia Sackey, MEng who presented to our team meeting today about her struggles with Autoimmune Encephalitis resulting from a previous serious illness. It was very inspiring to hear what you have achieved, showing true perseverance in the face of some pretty strong and constant headwinds. It’s eye-opening to hear what others are dealing with on a daily basis on top of work and it takes a lot of courage to stand up and tell others about your challenges. As echoed in Sophia’s presentation today, it’s not asking for any lesser standards or expectation, just an appreciation and understanding of the other battles being fought.

I was at ViVE, not Breakthrough6, but I was excited. “You can’t bring on a master networker and complain that he won’t shut up” was said to me at 1:30 AM in a bar waiting to have the end of day recap when Lincoln Fish was still going. Facial pain. As a side effect. Smiling too much. From a topping depression. I found a way to get it into hospitals so it is NOT financially crippling for patients - boy do I love irony! How do I do anything else? Thank you Lincoln Fish for you passion and drive. Owen Muir MD and I are thrilled to have you come with us on this journey.
