📢 Let’s End The Week In Grand Style 🕺 Our Post doctoral researcher Prof. Timo De Groof and Yoline Lauwers (PhD student) recently released their scientific article now in pre-print. In this manuscript they describe the development of a nanobody-based #immunotracer for non-invasive nuclear imaging of human CD8+ T-cell dynamics. The immunotracer allowed them to visualize CD8+ T cells in naïve and tumor-bearing mice, and in naïve non-human primates with high sensitivity. Importantly, the nanobody-based immunotracer showed enhanced specificity for CD8+ T cells, and/or faster in vivo pharmacokinetics compared to previous human CD8-targeting immunotracers, useful to trace human CD8+ T-cell trafficking already at early timepoints. 👨⚕️ Timo De Groof: “This preprint is currently still under review, but we are very happy to share these results already with the scientific community after years of development and testing. The study is a huge effort of the whole team and several of our collaborators and a big congratulations to them is in order. We feel that this new nanobody-based immunotracer could be useful for investigating the role of CD8+ T-cell dynamics in several #immune-related diseases including cancer but also #viral infections or #inflammatory diseases. Looking forward, we aim to push this new immunotracer towards the clinic to further investigate the potential of this tracer for diagnostic imaging of immunotherapy responses in patients.” Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Immune-Image, Research Foundation Flanders - FWO Nick Devoogdt VUB/UZB UMCOR Read the pre-print in the link below entitled “Specific Imaging of CD8+ T-Cell Dynamics with a Nanobody Radiotracer against Human CD8β". https://lnkd.in/eitfyjNn #nanbodies #nuclearimaging #targetedtherapies #radiopharmaceuticals #immunotracers

The year 2024 is starting off strong. BSF is thrilled to share the news that our latest funding cycle has set the stage for an exciting period ahead of collaborative research. With over 330 applications involving nearly 800 scientists from both the U.S. and Israel, we’re witnessing an uptick in interest compared to our previous cycle, spanning the fields of Medicine, Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering and Psychobiology. Notably, more applications than usual have been initiated by U.S. Principal Investigators, highlighting a growing engagement from our American counterparts. These binational proposals, to be evaluated by 18 expert panels, are a testament to the robust relationship between U.S. and Israeli researchers and underscore a shared commitment to pursue scientific discovery collaboratively - BSF’s core mission for over five decades. We celebrate the diversity of thought and unique strengths each researcher brings to the table and wish our outstanding applicants success in their respective projects and throughout their grant applications process. #BSFfunding #scienceresearch #medicine #lifescience #biomedicalengineering #psychobiology #US_Israel #collaboration #partnership #IsraelScience #innovation

Another validation for the #ProteographXT! This preprint (under review at Clinical Proteomics) authored by Rajesh Soni, PhD, proteomics core director and assistant professor, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, preliminarily concludes that the #Proteograph outperforms two other distinct workflows and is a promising solution for the discovery of novel early #diseasebiomarkers in #plasma in large cohort studies of #cancer, #neurologicaldisorders, and #cardiovascular conditions. The complexity and wide dynamic range of #protein abundance in plasma and serum makes studying blood challenging, but Seer is changing that with #nanoparticle #technology that can offer the sensitivity, reproducibility, and automation needed for deep #proteome coverage with #massspectrometers.
