Major General, US Space Command | Versatile Technical and Program Executive | VP-level Leadership Experience in Business Development, Capture, and Partner Management | Views are my own
As we approach our independence day, I want to draw attention to this important OpEd by Douglas Schiess and David Miller. Most of my audience knows I am an advocate for the responsible use of space. This article describes why it's important and what global competitors are doing to threaten world wide use of the space domain. It also discusses why #SpaceForce exists and more importantly, what Space Force is doing to ready our Guardians for aggression in the space domain. At U.S. Space Command, we are always vigilant!! Our mission is "U.S. Space Command is working with Allies and Partners, to plans, execute, and integrate military spacepower into multi-domain global operations in order to deter aggression, defend national interests, and when necessary, defeat threats." I encourage all #Americans to pause over the long independence day weekend and take 15 minutes to read this article and understand a little bit more about the #SPAFORGEN initiative and why those of us working in this mission area are so focused on deterrence and responsible behavior in the domain. I encourage healthy dialogue and am always open to your thoughts on the subject of space. https://lnkd.in/g6_WHWfw #defense #DoD #allies #partners #adaptiveacquisition #partnershipmatters Kim Crider Michael Quinn Elise McGill Joel Mjolsness 🚀Chris Troyer Chris G. “Space Competition Enters the Gray Zone” In the evolving landscape of space warfare, conflict is shifting into what experts commonly call the “gray zone.” Unlike traditional conflicts defined by clear boundaries, rules of engagement and identifiable actors, space battles in the gray zone are ambiguous, with military and civilian activities that can be difficult to discern. “It’s crucial for U.S. policymakers and military leaders to understand the nuances of future competition in space, and how it will likely play out,” said John Klein, military strategist and adjunct professor at George Washington University’s Space Policy Institute.
