🌿 Thriving at the Workplace Themed “Live Well, Work Better”, I am really happy to speak at NLB’s THRIVE@libraries 2024 program featuring industry experts, thought leaders, and Institutes of Higher Learning, and resources from NLB’s collections last Friday afternoon. Sharing findings from our 2023 regional research study on the role of leadership in building strong workplace culture, nothing beats sharing research outcomes when followed up by real world stories. Joined by senior HR leaders from our Best Workplaces, Gian Heng Ng, HR Director at Capella Singapore, and Sing Hwee Ng, Head of HR SEA & India Pharmaceuticals & Singapore OneHR at Johnson & Johnson, the panel was moderated by NLB’s Director of People Daphne Ong. You know it when leaders who do not just talk the talk, but have rolled up their sleeves to do the actual hard work speak. With Gian Heng and Sing Hwee, we dove deep into practical strategies and shared real-world examples of how effective leadership can foster environments where employees thrive and organizations excel. Equally fulfilling was fielding questions from the audience. Great tempo, good questions, engaged audience, this was an afternoon well-spent. A heartfelt thanks to the National Library Board for hosting this impactful event and to my fellow panelists for their insightful contributions. Over the last four weeks, I had the privilege of taking part in an enlightening masterclass at the Antwerp Management School, focusing on “Sustainable Leadership & HR”. I have long been a believer that there needs to be a bridge between ESG and HR. In a tight labor market, just investing in trendy "Employer Branding" is not enough. People are living more consciously and are looking for more depth. Our companies must face the challenge of broadening the "WHY" of their organization.  The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.  In the model “The wedding cake” of the Stockholm University we speak about the “Social Development Goals”. Have you asked yourself - what's' our ONE BIG PROBLEM TO SOLVE in my business right now? Thank you for the wonderful interview Karin Hurt, appreciate you unpacking my book's research to figure this out. We were discussing the huge 'conflict cocktail' leaders and organisations are experiencing with so much change in the way organizations are run and the tight economy; What is one thing that leaders and organisation can do that would really make the biggest impact? Having tested this with hundreds of organizations, many struggle to define one opportunity (as there are often multiple solutions to each problem) but when you actually get all those different roles to actually say what the key problem is in the organization that they want to solve, in one sentence, it just opens up enormous clarity and resources and resourcefulness to solve that... ...one. single. big problem. It is far more feasible to attain a clear problem focus, and then work through the subsequent steps in the book to get the most practical ways for leaders to implement in their context. Of course, there are many angles here and love to hear more perspectives from our community - it was a lot of fun! A record 446 D&I leaders from 28 countries revealed the state of the profession after this eventful year: from how the function is perceived and rewarded to its priorities for the coming months. Download for free - Survey findings include: •  36% expect their organisation’s investment in D&I to increase in 2024 •  22% of respondents had been working in D&I for between 5 & 10 years •  41% of respondents said they had a direct team of between 2-5 people •  27% of global chief diversity officers earn more than £150,000, with finance, financial services, insurance and manufacturing being the most highly paid sectors •  Almost 6 in 10 (59%) of respondents report into HR, up from 52% last year •  More than 6 in 10 said their mental wellbeing was fairly good or very good •  One of the most common barriers was pushback (or simply lack of   engagement) from leaders. d&i Leaders (Diversity and Inclusion Leaders) #diversityandinclusion
