It’s been a few weeks since I left #Cannes, and as I reflect on my time there this year, I’m feeling a bit mixed about the overall experience. First, I’m incredibly proud of our work with Stagwell #SportsBeach to deliver a unique #ClioAwards experience. I love what their team builds out each year because it leans into the world of sports and gives athletes a space to play. It moves beyond just showing up and having vendor meetings and truly demonstrates who they are and what they can do. In giving out Clios to athletes, we’re honoring them in a relevant location outside of the awards shows, adding value in helping them meet with the brands that are already there. It’s a win/win for everyone, especially since we are a global company and it gave us the opportunity to connect with everyone in one place. That said, it felt like a lot of the build outs and beachfront takeovers took away from some of the magic that is Cannes. I loved what Pinterest did in their space, which was inherently creative and maker-driven, but found many other spaces to be lacking. So many of the spaces were self-promotional networking/meeting areas vs. spaces that truly nurture and elevate creativity - I felt this way, and while I saw all of them from the outside, I didn’t personally go in and experience every one. We all know it’s an amazing week with highly engaged creative and marketing leaders. Still, I’d love to hear about what some of the brands/companies who do build-outs are trying to get out of it - is it about nurturing a client base, securing new client partners, or is there something else? Absolutely amazing initiative Ellen Davison! Starting a career in the sports industry just got easier, thanks to The Playbook. Here are some key takeaways: 1. Career Resources: The Playbook provides comprehensive tools and guides to help you advance your career in sports, making the transition smoother and more effective. 4. Personal Experience: The Playbook is not just a resource, it's a solution born from a real need. Ellen, like many of us, faced challenges transitioning into the sports industry, and this initiative is a great head start. Ellen and many others on LinkedIn share fantastic resources and knowledge, making platforms like The Playbook incredibly valuable. Fast reflections on my 6th #CannesLions, and feeling inspired and incredibly grateful for the experience and my network.   While my Cannes instincts came rushing back,... knowing that Môka on Rue du Commandant André will always have a breakfast table when your first option fails, the time needed to navigate La Croisette from the Palais to the Martinez (exactly 13min if you don't stop and chat with a friendly face along the way, which of course never happens), how to gracefully exit a long Thursday night dinner in time to reconnect at 'the pubs' with colleagues, clients, and partners before the exodus, the Rue d' Antibes route is the fastest to Le Suquet (and that a late dinner at the foot of the old town still puts you at #AmazonPort in under 5mins or on this particular night just in time to be 'carried to Ohio in a swarm of bees' by the legendary, The National - see what I did there Samantha Bukowski? 🤣), and Cannes' one and only record shop, Discotis, is worth popping into for a stack of '60s French yé-yé pop 45s before heading to the airport,... #CannesLions24 felt different as I repped choreograph in my new role after so many years with #TeamMindshare. It was exciting to meet with new partners (and reintroduce myself to old ones), connect with a wider network of WPP clients, whilst also finding time to hang with my Purple People from around the globe. A few takeaways… 🛒 With consumers, marketers, and platforms aligned on #commercefirst experiences, it's clear #retailmedia is just media now. Plug for our new partnership with Incremental, where we'll use AI to rebalance the data asymmetry and unlock cross-retailer, outcome-based planning and optimization for our clients. 👨💻 Media dollars are actually following the availability of privacy-enhancing tech as marketers are seeking to widen their data aperture, and take an approach that puts #datacollaboration - not just data collection - at the heart of future growth on platforms. ⚽ 🏈 🎾 From the Palais to panels, brands have finally embraced athletes for their personalities off the field just us much for their performance on it. Brand x athlete collabs have shifted from spokespersonship to brand x (athlete) brand full-blown partnerships, with athletes bringing everything from media inventory to creator content to fashion and more. 📺 Brands as (commerce-enabled) media networks! So cool to see JPMorganChase have prime real estate this year for their new #ChaseMediaSolutions, and congrats to new friends Khatidja Ajania and team on launching Kinective Media℠ by United Airlines Media network! And the most important thing I took away… we have a team of rock stars. It was an absolute pleasure to spend time with all the brilliant, kind, fun nextgen data, tech and commerce leaders at choreograph and GroupM, and all of our agency client team partners. Sitting here on a sunny Sunday, I can't help but feel grateful for where I am and excited about where I'm headed. 🌞 People often admire the success of giants like Amazon, Nike, and Apple, but it's important to remember that these companies didn't become industry leaders overnight. It took years of hard work and dedication. In another 10-15-20-30 years, we'll see a new set of hyper-successful companies, and the ones that will stand out are those that are currently in their infancy stages. NOM Media is one of those companies. Four years in, and we're on a journey similar to that of VaynerMedia, Wieden + Kennedy, or Ogilvy. These marketing/advertising giants didn't achieve their success overnight, and neither will we. But we're determined to get there. Sundays are for dreaming and manifesting, so we can hit the ground running Monday through Friday. So here's to NOM Media's journey to becoming the largest black-owned marketing/advertising group in New York, then the East Coast, then the nation, and eventually the world. In the thirteen-year journey of growing RaceReach, we’ve constantly weighed the balance of promoting our customer stories versus touting our growth numbers. When I zoom out, I realize that it’s NEVER really been about the scale of the numbers, nor should it ever be. RaceReach is a product-led Sports Event Registration and Management company, delivering services very similar to our competitors’. Our business model and the small size of our team, however, make our scale and growth numbers seemingly less impressive. While we’re proud of our software, size and growth, our current scale is small when compared to many competitors. What makes us desirable to work with (and has driven our growth) is the uniqueness of the relationships we build with each event director and sports organization. These customers tell us that our small group of employee-owners goes considerably beyond anything they have experienced. They tell us that we focus on understanding their specific problems and needs, then we provide tailored solutions delivered through regular, meaningful and often fun interactions. As RaceReach partners with new customers, there is certain to be a continued temptation to tout our growth metrics. We’ll continue to remind ourselves that our real value comes from the depth, quality and frequency of these interactions. The lasting wins aren’t measured by the numbers on the scoreboard, but instead through memories of how you and your customers worked together on the field, during the game.

YES, today is May 1st. While sure April 🌦 will eventually bring May 💐 , I also wanted to highlight what else happened in April here Carve Communications, Inc.! Looking back at what we as a team accomplished in April puts a big smile on my face. 🎉 Strategic Planning- We built a well thought out strategy and action plan together to support a clients annual industry event  🎉 Partnerships- We're finalizing an omni-channel campaign with a very well known TV star and simultaneously negotiating an exciting cross-promo with a leading CPG brand, all for the same client partner! 🎉 Outreach & Results- We had a great month coverage wise, examples range from an exclusive interview on Yahoo Finance to multiple placements with Parents.com, Good Housekeeping and Buzzfeed as well as feature trade coverage across a variety of industries (Retail Touch Points, Sports Collectors Digest, Commercial Observer). The CSS Average is HIGH 🎉 Industry POV’s- We shared an insightful SOV report and received constructive, yet positive feedback from our partners. 🎉Announcements- Rather than a specific number, let’s just say April was full of product/service releases and new partnership announcements. Our workflow, output and performance was nothing short of excellent. What’s Coming Up This Month? As schools let kids out over the next 4-6 weeks we will immediately turn our attention to Back to School. There’s plenty of opportunities to capitalize on there. Temperatures are rising across the country, which means consumers (and therefore the media) are looking for HVAC solutions and experts. Those are just our evergreen sustainable "always-on" efforts. That doesn’t even include all the new product and service offering announcements scheduled for May/June. And on a personal note, it's baseball/softball season here (AKA the happiest time of the year) in the midwest so if you're looking for me over the weekend you can find me on a ⚾ or softball field cheering on my kids with a 🍹 🍺 in hand.
