Ever since I was a kid I knew I’ll become a Software Engineer when I grow up. After a lot of self-reflection and research, here are my top 3 reasons why I know I’ll continue to be a great Software Engineer. 1. Strong Technical Skills: Tech companies are huge on taking their services to the next level by hopping on to the latest trend when it comes to utilizing the latest technology, such as a library or a tool. With a Bachelor’s in Software Engineering and Master’s in Data Science, I’ve been exposed to the broad fields that co-exist in the world of software development and modern technology. This has allowed me to build real world projects in several fields, such as big data, deep learning, wireless networks, etc. That is why my strong technical background will help me in using that knowledge to solve complex technical challenges that will arise in the future. 2. Business Impact: Coming from a family tree of entrepreneurs and business owners, I have always considered the company I’m working for my biggest stakeholder. With most of the projects I’ve worked on in my current role, I’ve taken into consideration whether my work will impact the yearly revenue of the company in a positive way. Despite being well adequate in technical needs, I know that there is no point in my technical skills if I can’t relate it back to the vision of the company I’m working for. 3. Work Ethic: With technology rapidly changing as it molds the future of how we get things done, it is important for every software engineer to have the reliance and grit to understand the new concepts that are thrown to them from inception. This is especially important the first couple of years when one needs to get used to the company’s culture work culture.
