The Next Cannabis Frontier: Kentucky
Why?
The cannabis market in Kentucky is poised to make waves with its new medical program kicking off very soon.
In October 2024, a lottery will award 48 new retail licenses between the 11 regions in the attached image.
With a population of 4,500,000, this means there will be one store for every 93,750 residents, which is more than Ohio, one of the strongest markets in the US.
We estimate this market has the potential to allow each store to hit an average of $5M in revenue, with some of the best stores reaching north of $10M.
Real estate is required to apply and CannDev is currently scouring the state for the locations with the highest revenue potential.

What do you think a Kentucky cannabis dispensary license is worth?
Since license applications opened earlier this week, here is my opinion on the value of Kentucky cannabis dispensary licenses compared to other states.
With Ohio dispensary licenses trading at substantial figures, and Illinois licenses being valued even higher, Kentucky could see values anywhere between $3 to $6 million, or even up to $10 million in high-demand areas.
What are your thoughts on the valuation of cannabis licenses in Kentucky? Do you think they will mirror the trends seen in other states like Ohio and Illinois?

After a very slow roll out over the past 12 months it looks like #newyork is finally getting going with their licensing process.
After settling two lawsuits that completely halted the issuing licenses, businesses can now resume the permitting process. 5 out of the 11 RO (register organization) will be allowed to transition from medical to adult use sales.
As well the conditional adult use retail dispensary (CAURD) program will restart and its 463 shops can start opening across the state.
The settlement also includes initiatives to increase service-disabled #veteran participation in the cannabis market and to conduct research into veterans’ health concerning cannabis.
The OCM opened the license application process to the public in October . The state expects to issue a number of licenses across various categories, including retail, microbusinesses, cultivators, processors, and distributors. That application window closes Dec. 18.
Hopefully New York will get it right this time.
Thank you John Schroyer from Green Market Report for the state update.
