I'm often asked for business advice and I'm always drawn back to this piece of advice I was given early on: "Don't focus on the mountain top, focus on the next step." For me, success, much like climbing a mountain is achieved one step at a time. Each venue I have opened represents a unique peak and my strategy has always been to conquer one summit before venturing to the next. 🧗♂️ By dedicating my attention to each opening, ensuring it runs smoothly, and making consistent, incremental improvements, I've witnessed the cumulative impact of these efforts. 📈 It's not just about reaching the summit; it's about mastering the journey, relishing each step, and savouring the satisfaction of a well-managed, thriving venue. After all, the climb is as important as the destination. #RestaurantEntrepreneur #BusinessJourney #SuccessInSteps #AirportRetailGroupAustralia

Insights from Dr. Entela Xhillari on Entrepreneurship and Career Growth Last month, we were thrilled to have Dr. Entela Xhillari share invaluable insights on how to start, run, and grow an enterprise in Canada. 🛡️ Her message was clear: Try to work harder than everybody else if you want to achieve better results than anyone else, and if you work for others, do more than you are asked or paid for. Your supervisor or boss always knows the capacity of the role, and at the moment they see someone doing more, they will appreciate it without ever letting you know they appreciate it. You have to be patient and wait for the record. 💼🚗 Key Takeaways from Dr. Entela Xhillari: Failure is a must. In order to be the best, you have to be able to deal with the worst in the business. Follow the plan no matter what. Make sure you prioritize family as well. For women, it is not just business everything. Family is very important, so make sure to have a healthy family and relationship. Upcoming Event: Money or Knowledge: Which is More Important? Celebrating Global Meetings Industry Day. #GMID This is not news to you. We are in one of the most complicated industries. What you do is admirable and inspires me. Let me tell you, GPS Destinations plans 30 #MICEIndustry events a year. Every city is another complicated story. Right Samantha Steiner? Our Director of Operations Melody Clark recently availed that “our events have a lot of moving parts”. How true is that? Every event has 100s if not 1000s. How can we as an industry focus on the goal? The goal of connecting people with one another in a meaningful way? So they may learn, grow and make invaluable connections that benefit them directly? #Meetings that matter? Mark Marino and our entire team including our DMC Collective Partners will continue to evolve PlannerConnect #events so they will always matter to you. Shaun Boothe via Spoken Artists presented, along with other inspiring people, Terry Fox an inspirational #hero to many in Canada. One takeaway for me was that everyday during Terry’s run across #Canada he woke up each morning not thinking about running across Canada. He awoke, with one leg amputated and Cancer continuing to spread across his body, ran and looked ahead to the next lamp post. The next lamp post. With every lamp post he asked himself if he could make it. When he decided he could, he would. We should only ask of ourselves the same. Move forward with smaller goals that intend to meet the larger ones. #TerryFox’s goal was $1,000,000 in Cancer support fundraising. To date, it’s over $850,000,000. #MeetingsMatter. Human connections matter. Inspirational stories matter to us all. Let’s give every event attendee a story they will share that inspire others as well. There’s an ROI of human connections. Let’s nurture it. Let’s express it. And let’s accomplish what we’re meant to do. Connect people so they can learn, grow and provide for their community. Let’s meet at the lamp post ahead. And then meet at the next one. And the one after that. Sociable! Why choosing your mentor is so important? Only one name can truly come from this question. Garnet Basson From the ripe old age of 21. My first interview was in the Heart of Sandton-Sunny South Africa-With back then EAH,now The Capital Hotels, Apartments & Resorts… The story starts like this >>>> I had just graduated from a truly immaculate hotel school- International Hotel School and was on the hunt to now quench the thirst of this young hotlier who was convinced-GRADUATE then GENERAL MANAGER. I was slightly off target with this thinking but none the less I took up the interview arranged by Deanne Smith-who briefed me that Burnedette Jordaan was actually looking for a Female Guest Relations Officer-she suggested we give it a go and see what happens. Let’s just say it was a nerve wrecking, “casual” interview with Adrian Willmers-who I first met at Intercontinental Sandton as a First year student (still have the business card) and the two other power house hoteliers at the time, mentioned above. Nonetheless only two of the three were convinced of my fit. Let’s just say EIGHT years later we launched several hotel projects together and I parted ways with them equipped with the right tools and attitude to take on an international challenge. In conclusion. Choose your mentor carefully and watch your career rocket!! #younghotelier #guestrelations #humans #southafrica #youngprofessionals Kersha Sunker 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗮𝗽 🇸🇬 A great week in Singapore with Rob McFadden and Cameron Porter 🏠 looking to build #business connections in the #expat and Australian PR community. ✨ Three BNI meetings, multiple client meetings, the AustCham event, and some great #networking meetings over a busy 5 days. Amidst the hustle, there was still time to see some of the sights and enjoy some of that great #Singapore food and hospitality. Cheers to a successful trip! #businessnetwork #propertyinvestment

"A podium finish! I was proud to have been nominated for Business of the Year 2024 by the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce. It was also a proud moment for the Riverside Cabins Ltd team to be seated at the International Centre in Telford for the awards ceremony last month. It was also a lovely moment for me to reflect on our short journey. The journey of Riverside Cabins has been remarkable since we opened our doors during a global pandemic. There is much to celebrate, however, if I'm honest, we were not the best business in Shropshire this year. The award rightfully went to Stallion AI Services, whom we congratulate. After a brief period of feeling deflated, reflection sets in on the next chapter of Riverside Cabins. We considered the areas where we can improve, polish, and position ourselves for the future. Although we didn't win the award that evening, I looked around the table and thought to myself that this team will move forward, and the business will be better for it! How do we measure and quantify improvement was our next question. We can see our journey, the adjustments, the polish, and our pursuit of being a standout holiday destination showcasing Shropshire tourism. But how do we articulate and demonstrate this? In part, our customers will provide feedback, either directly or through reviews on platforms like Google and Tripadvisor. More importantly, they will show their support by continuing to visit or not. However, from a professional perspective, as an aspiring ethical and sustainable business that prioritises doing what is right and supporting the community... How can we measure this, how do we measure ourselves, and what does the roadmap look like over the next twelve months? We aspire to be B Corp". Thanks to Anita Roberts, Andy Begley, Howard Thorne, and Elizabeth Wakeham-Jones for taking the time to visit Riverside Cabins and provide great feedback. #BCorp #Sustainable #Journey #Tourism #Darwin #Team #Community #NextChapter #ShropshireChamberOfCommerce

In the realm of professional networking, I've always championed the invaluable experiences gained through platforms like BNI. It's been a cornerstone for learning, building confidence, and perfecting the art of the elevator pitch. The environment fostered there is nothing short of transformative, providing a solid foundation for any professional eager to grow. However, true growth often requires us to venture beyond familiar territories. My passion for cars and our business in financing them propelled me into an unexpected yet thrilling adventure: car tours across our magnificent nation with fellow enthusiasts. This venture was not just about exploring the scenic beauty of New Zealand but about driving into a realm of limitless possibilities. Embarking on these tours was a leap from being a 'big fish in a small pond' to a 'tadpole in the ocean.' This shift was monumental, reshaping my circle of influence dramatically over the past three years. The diverse and vibrant individuals I've met along the way have not only enriched my journey but have also expanded my vision of what's possible. Their perspectives have illuminated the untapped potential within New Zealand and revealed how my ambitions, though significant, were still constrained by the boundaries of my own imagination. As I prepare to set off on yet another tour before lunch today, I'm filled with anticipation for the new connections that await and the stories that will unfold. This journey is a testament to the power of stepping out of one's comfort zone and into the vast expanse of opportunities that lie beyond. Stay tuned for snapshots of our journey next week, as we navigate the open roads and forge new paths. Here's to the endless roads that lead us to growth, discovery, and unexpected friendships. 🚗💼🌏 #Networking #ProfessionalGrowth #CarTours #NewZealandAdventures #BusinessNetworking #JourneyBeyond
