Was just talking about this yesterday!  Pretty cool stats about Montana’s work-from-home situation According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 73k people in Montana worked from home in 2021 vs 34k in 2019 However, in 2022 that dropped to 69k despite the state’s population continued growth. Companies are pushing back on remote work even in Montana and demanding the go back to the office. GL Solution's Bill Moseley in Kalispell says he sees a 30% drop in productivity and requires his team in the office even though about ¼ of his applicants only want 100% remote work. This data is adjusted for factors such as demographics, industry, and occupation. The results for each state are compared relative to Wyoming, which has the distinction of having the lowest share of remote work. Notably, there is a significant degree of variation observed across different states. This disparity can, in part, be attributed to the differing remote working practices adopted during the pandemic. While some states experienced prolonged closures of physical office spaces, prompting a shift towards remote work, others saw a quicker return to traditional office environments within a few months. These variations in remote working habits during the pandemic could have a lasting influence on the remote work trends observed in 2022 and potentially extend into future years. As the largest employer in the DMV region, the federal government and the region’s economy are linked. The National Capital Planning Commission and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments recently engaged HR&A Advisors to conduct a study that sheds light on the potential transformations in our region due to federal telework practices. The study delves into three distinct approaches: in-person return, moderate telework, and maximum remote work. Each scenario highlights the potential for unique implications for federal real estate, workforce demographics, where workers live, and public transportation and commuting patterns. Urban Land institute released an annual Emerging #Trends in #RealEstate ® in 2024 report and compared the share of residents working from home pre-pandemic and in 2022. Not Surprisingly, the number of workers working from home increased by 3 times or more in major cities. High vacancy rates 🤝 remote work = delinquency rates reaching the highest they’ve been since 2013. The data stems from a data analysis published by Bloomberg Law, which revealed that the rise in delinquency rates is particularly evident in the Washington, Philadelphia, and Chicago metropolitan areas. These areas are reported to have delinquency rates between 9% and 10%.
