🌟 Let's Shine a Light on Youth Homelessness! 🌟 As someone who has experience working in the youth sector, I've witnessed firsthand the significant barriers young people face when trying to secure accommodation. Many of them lack the resources to navigate services independently and rely heavily on support from non-profit organizations (NFPs/NGOs). Consider this: In 2022–23, more than 38,000 young people aged 15–24 presented alone to a homelessness service. This staggering statistic highlights the urgent need for action. This Youth Homelessness Matters Day (YHMD) on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, let's unite to raise awareness and drive meaningful change. #YHMD24 is a national day that sparks conversations and action around child and youth homelessness. It's a day to recognize the resilience of young people and push for sustainable solutions to support them. Join us in making a difference: 📢 Raise Awareness: Spread the word about YHMD and the realities of youth homelessness. 💡 Get Involved: Organize or participate in YHMD activities in your community. Register your event with Yfoundations and access our campaign kit for ideas and resources. ✍️ Sign the Petition: Advocate for a standalone National Child and Youth Homelessness and Housing Plan by signing Yfoundations petition. 💰 Make a Donation: Support NFP/NGO's efforts to end youth homelessness by donating. Please see below for some events that may be held in your local LGA. #YouthHomelessness #homelessness

Today is the start of National Reconciliation Week. We are proud to raise our collective voices in solidarity with First Nations people for a better, more just, and united Australia and renew our commitment to providing culturally safe services. We recognise the right of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' right to self-determination as they know what is best for themselves, their families, and their communities, including in addressing and preventing homelessness. The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2024, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue. #NationalReconciliationWeek #ReconciliationWeek

🎉 2024 United Nations Civil Society Conference! 🌍We are excited to take part in the 2024 United Nations Civil Society Conference, a two-day event taking place in the United Nations Office in Nairobi, Kenya. 💡The United Nations Civil Society Conference has brought together UN System officials, NGOs, academia, think tanks, Member States, media, private sector, change-makers and leaders from diverse groups to discuss issues of global concern. 💡The conference is a pivotal moment for multi-stakeholder collaboration, offering a crucial platform for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to actively engage in the preparatory process leading up to the Summit of the Future. CSOs will leverage this platform to amplify their voices, sharing innovative ideas that can shape the Pact for the Future negotiations. 💡 As Terre des Hommes Netherlands, our advocacy revolves around meaningful child participation, inclusive decision-making, and the promotion of children's rights for a better future. Today, we urge organisers to prioritise children's involvement in the summit and beyond. As a child rights organisation, we stand ready and committed to facilitating this collaboration alongside children themselves. Let's make this vision a reality, together. #2024UNCSC #WeCommit #SheLeads #ImPACTforthefuture

Did you know that National Reconciliation Week (NRW) started as the Week of Prayer for Reconciliation in 1993 (the International Year of the World’s Indigenous Peoples) and was supported by Australia’s major faith communities. In 1996, the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation launched Australia’s first National Reconciliation Week. In 2001, Reconciliation Australia was established to continue to provide national leadership on reconciliation. In the same year, approximately 300,000 people walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge as part of National Reconciliation Week, and subsequently across bridges in cities and towns to show their support for reconciliation. Today, National Reconciliation Week is celebrated in workplaces, schools and early learning services, community organisations and groups, and by individuals Australia wide. The theme for this year's National Reconciliation Week is "Now More than Ever" and as we reflect on just how far we have come; we must continue to learn and grow from our shared histories, cultures and achievements while exploring how we can contribute to reconciliation in Australia. #NRW2024 #justiceforall #tenderpro
