The Schiphol clock was a special commission from dutch 🇳🇱 artist Maarten Baas that was launched in July 2016, featuring a giant timepiece replacing traditional clock hands with a 12-hour-long video performance. 📍 Amsterdam Royal Schiphol Group Airport A wonderful artwork that really places with delivering the unexpected in a so called non-space, like an airport. Elevating the relatively mundane environment and bring people together in a shared experience, here only as spectators, but even more meaningful if it were to be interactive. #artwork #airport #experience #artandculture

This was part of Kossmanndejong's installation of the Departure lounge design. More art and poetry in airports please!

I like the idea, but not in an airport. Can you imagine running behind and looking at it to figure out how much time you have to get to your gate. It’s 11: … … … … 38.

Always a highlight of my trek through Schiphol - it's truly mesmerizing. So well done.

I think it would be fantastic if a clock changed colors with each hour and spread light throughout the room!

This is only one of a series! Last year (I think) all Real Time works by Maarten Baas were shown at Museum Voorlinden. Try and grab a catalogue somewhere, if you can. Or download the one for iPad/iPhone at a few euros — unfortunately, not the best of the lot IMHO.
