This, this, and ALLLL this. 👏👏👏 Assistants are the future big wigs. You never know who’s going to suddenly be running things. These are the ones reading those cold entries and searching for new talent. These are the ones staying up late hours and ensuring the work be done so their bosses look good for those important meetings. Someone once told me in my early days, you’re only as good as your assistant. It’s a partnership. You can tell when it’s a good one by how well they keep the flow moving of endless calls, emails and submissions. It is a rapport that is instinctual and unique. A team.

Applause and Timing There is an oft unspoken skill that performers seem to know, but have no memory of being taught. That is because this is something that we do not experience in rehearsal, only in performance: riding the wave of laughter and applause. We may not know what a certain audience will find funny and we are often surprised if there is applause during a performance. We expect applause at the end, but how to know the right moment to leave the stage? When do we come back for a second or third bow? We learn this skill only by performing before a live audience. Mid-performance, the skill is to ride the wave of applause or laughter and then, just as the wave begins to wane, jump in and continue decisively and with vocal strength. There is a sweet spot to hit that is somewhat intuitive. Award acceptance speeches span a wide range: from racy and hilarious rhetoric to emotional roller coasters. Then there are some speeches: just authentic but vivid. Actor Tovino Thomas produced one such subtle speech swept by vivid and evocative emotions. Tovino bagged the best Asian actor award for his role in the grand Malayalam magnum opus '2018, Everyone is a Hero' at the Septimius Awards, recently. In simple words, coordination is essential for covenanting departments to supervise their relationships adequately. As coordination, in the service delivery process, is as the connections between services or between people and services to improve outcomes for your guests. I had the chance to attend a show recently in #France with a choreography so detailed that I couldn’t but appreciate the training and coordination involved. #kudos Surround yourself with people who can motivate, inspire, develop and impart knowledge to you, especially in the field of #hospitality but beyond as well.
