There are many ways to screw up hiring a virtual assistant. Here are the 3 biggest mistakes that I see people making: 1- Looking for someone who can do EVERYTHING (A unicorn) 2- Not having a clear definition of the tasks they want to be completed 3- No operating procedures to follow I have heard people complain time and again that they hired someone and it did not work out. “They just didn't know how to do things the way I wanted” In my experience, this is YOUR fault 85% of the time. Nobody can read your mind. Nobody understands your business like you. Nobody can guess how you want things done. Create clear and concise tasks and expectations. Or keep doing everything yourself 🤷🏽♂️

All these are scams, I am seeing this after every 3 to 4 posts on LinkedIn. Please don't play with people's emotions who really need a job. Everyone is facing a financial crises these days, so if you can't help them, you have no right to play with their life. Busy ≠ Productive When I first started working remotely, I thought that having a long to-do list and a full calendar meant that I was doing my job. I would fill my days with meetings and time-consuming tasks like cleaning my inbox, putting out fires, and responding to every single message on Slack. I equated multitasking with productivity, which actually isn't true. Studies show that multitasking is less efficient because switching from one task to another takes a toll on your brain. You end up doing a mediocre job or worse — you won’t accomplish anything at all. Instead of looking busy, I've learned how to manage my time by: 1. Focusing on one task at a time 2. Hiring an awesome assistant (we help others do this through Support Shepherd) 3. Managing my attention These three things have been an absolute game-changer for me. What about you?
