I want to tell a story. Here’s the short version: one of the teams I work with most closely is hiring for a marketer to take the lead on business banking. It’s a great team, with a top-notch manager, at a great company. If you’re in marketing, you should give it a look.
The longer version is to tell you: Our marketing department has a great leader in Jodi Siemers, and big shoes to fill because Jordin Edwards is excelling in a new role in a different department here at First Bank & Trust.
Jordin was one of our longest-tenured marketing team members, and she is an exemplar of our culture. She handled a wide range of tasks across our marketing department, and took responsibility for making sure things got done right. Crucial contributor.
A couple of years ago, Jodi, our head of marketing, wanted to really ensure Jordin had an opportunity to make an impact on the organization by going deep, rather than covering a wide array of things. They worked together to focus Jordin our our business customers and to really drive her expertise in what businesses need from us and how we serve them best.
Because of their efforts (particularly Jordin’s), it worked - as a department, we understand better how to serve businesses than ever before. And something else happened, as well. As Jordin got deeper into serving our retirement services business (we administer retirement plans for businesses we serve - if that’s something you need, reach out to Jordin!), she saw how important that work is. So when there was an opening to join that team and serve the businesses that are our retirement services customers directly, she was the clear internal candidate to step into the role.
Not only did Jodi cheer her on as she did so, Jodi also pointed out to me that this is what is supposed to happen: we develop our people to be able to make the biggest possible impact, even if it’s not in our department.
It’s a story that, to me, shows how lucky I am to have colleagues like Jordin and Jodi. And I hope it’s a story that, if you know marketing - particularly B2B marketing- makes you think that Jodi is a leader you should try to work for, at a company that will support your growth.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and as always if this role isn’t for you, but makes you think of someone who is a good fit, please pass this post along!
