Good leaders have one thing in common: they leverage WHO THEY ARE as fuel for the benefit and growth of their movement. I look at thought leadership and personal platforms in the EXACT same way. Business trends are leaning away from direct sales and are doubling down on building relationships with customers through content and community. 60% of buyers say thought leadership builds credibility when entering a new category where the brand is not already known (Edelman). This is why developing a personal platform (and communities around them) matters. This is why building credibility as a thought leader is essential. And this is why two of the biggest social platforms in the world (LinkedIn and Twitter) are championing for execs to become highly-sought thought leaders. They are literally REWARDING thought leaders/super users - whether through additional credibility and/or financial compensation - And incentivizing them to post/engage more and drive more traffic to the platforms. Thought leadership and connection humanizes a product or service. And gives personal perspective/insight into a greater - more socially distant - company mission. Personal platforms and communities will fuel growth for businesses in 2024. This is nothing new.
