Founder of Callen Olive — a luxury podiatry clinic and vegan skincare targeting the specific needs of legs and feet. Multi-award-winning podiatrist. #ialso100. Available for media interviews and articles.
Hi guys! I have massive, massive news! I am absolutely delighted to share what feels like an incredible milestone in my career that fills me with pride. Recently, I had the honour of being featured in the Daily Mail, where I shared my insights on a topic that beautifully intersects health and fashion: the impact of ballet flats on our feet. In the interview, I explain why, despite their popularity and undeniable charm, ballet flats can pose significant risks to your foot health. Drawing from my years of experience and research, I outlined what makes a shoe both harmful and helpful, aiming to guide readers towards making healthier footwear choices. Additionally, I explored the fashion industry's innovative strides towards combining style with comfort. While some of these attempts have been successful, others have led to questionable outcomes from a podiatry perspective. It's a reminder that not all that glitters is gold, especially when it comes to our health. This feature in such a renowned publication is not just a personal achievement but a platform to highlight how fashion can negatively impact foot health. Educating the public on these matters is a passion of mine, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to our collective understanding and well-being. Your support means the world to me, and I hope my work continues to inspire and inform. Here's to making informed choices for our health without compromising on style! Thank you for being there to celebrate this remarkable milestone with me. 🍀🎶The Symphony of Business: My Dance from Entrepreneurship to businesswoman 🎶🍀 One day, my little one, with her heart full of curiosity, asked me, "Mommy, are you a businesswoman?" I found myself caught in a whirl of thoughts. I had always seen myself as an entrepreneur, a dancer to the rhythm of innovation. But was I now a businesswoman? To help her understand, I decided to weave a tale. "Sweetheart," I began, "imagine the world of business as a grand symphony. In this symphony, there are two types of dancers." "The first is the 👨💼businessman or 👩💼businesswoman, akin to a classical ballet dancer 🩰. This dancer has rehearsed their steps to perfection, knows the rhythm of the music, and moves with grace and precision. Their dance is well-choreographed, with a clear sequence and a well-defined performance. They are like the CEO of a big company, focusing on maintaining the rhythm, increasing the harmony, and ensuring a flawless performance." "The second type of dancer is the 👷♀️entrepreneur 👷♀️They are like a freestyle dancer, moving to their own beat. They don't necessarily have a fixed choreography 💃💃🕺🕺Instead, they are driven by the thrill of innovation, the desire to create new rhythms, and the courage to dance to their own tune. They are willing to take risks, adapt to changing beats, and are not afraid to change their dance. They are like a startup founder, bringing a novel idea to market, ready to pivot in response to feedback, and willing to take on significant risk for a substantial reward." "So, my dear, when I started my dance, I was an entrepreneur, a freestyle dancer moving to my own beat in the grand symphony. But as my dance grew and became more choreographed, my role began to shift. I became more like a ballet dancer, ensuring I stayed in rhythm and performed flawlessly. So, in a way, I am both - an entrepreneur at heart, and a businesswoman in practice." Her eyes sparkled with understanding. She finally grasped it. Her mother was not just a businesswoman, but also an entrepreneur - a freestyle dancer and a ballet dancer, all in one. And so, I continue my dance, moving to the rhythm of the business symphony, embodying the spirit of both an entrepreneur and a businesswoman, inspiring my daughter, and many others, with my dance. 💃🎶🪩🪩🩰 #mom #daughter #businessman #entrepreneur #trainer #ITSM

New week, New 💃 dance lesson 🕺 Part 3: 🏆Competition time🏆 Last time we prepared ourselves, now it is time to perform! Let's compare a dance competition to the sales process. 💜 The Warm-Up: Preparation Just as dancers begin with a warm-up to prepare their bodies for the rigorous performance ahead, sales professionals start with preparation in the form of research. In dance, we stretch and rehearse our choreographies to ensure we're ready for the judges. In sales, we research and gather information about our prospects, understanding their needs and challenges to tailor our approach. The better the warm-up, the more fluid and confident the performance. 💜 The First Round: Initial contact The first round in a dance competition is all about making a clear impression. It's our chance to showcase our high level of skills to the judges. Similarly, the initial contact with a prospect is critical in sales. It's an opportunity to establish a connection and demonstrate value. Just as dancers practice their routines tirelessly, sales professionals must be well-versed in their pitch, and ready to address concerns. 💜 The Second Round: Qualification and Needs Analysis Advancing to the next round in a competition means we've caught the judges' attention, but now we need to prove our worth. In sales, this is equal to the qualification and needs analysis phase. We dive deeper into understanding the prospect's specific needs, pain points, and objectives. By asking the right questions and actively listening, we can tailor our solutions to align perfectly with their goals. 💜 The Semi-Finals: Solution presentation and Objection handling Reaching the semi-finals is both exhilarating and challenging. It's our chance to deliver a flawless performance and address any remaining doubts the judges might have. In sales, this is where we present our proposal and handle objections. Just like in dance, where every move counts, in sales, every word and gesture matters. We need to be persuasive, confident, and responsive, turning objections into opportunities to reinforce our value proposition. 💜 The FINAL: Closing the Deal The ultimate goal in a dance competition is to win the coveted trophy. For sales professionals, it's closing the deal. This final step requires precision, timing, and a keen understanding of the prospect's decision-making process. In dance, we conclude with a powerful, memorable performance that leaves a lasting impression. Just as a successful dance performance is the result of practice, discipline, and passion, successful sales depends on preparation, persistence, and a genuine desire to help. Embrace the dance of sales, and you'll find that every step, from prospecting to closing, can lead to a 👏 standing ovation. Make everyday a learning day! by Learnster! #sales #salesdevelopment #dance #hrtech #learninganddevelopment

As I read ‘Brand Love” by Blended Collective Lydia Michael, I’m reminded of the kind of ‘brand love’ during Black History Month that has propelled one luxury automobile to heights unsurpassed by any of its competitors. While much of this vehicle’s brand love occurred organically, there is a branding lesson in not screwing up what has occurred almost naturally. #automotive #automotiveindustry #brandlove #generalmotors #escalade #luxury #luxurycars #marketing #corporatestrategy https://lnkd.in/ekt4-S3E

Dance: The Artistry of Athletics Dance, often hailed for its aesthetic beauty, is equally celebrated for its athleticism. Behind every graceful movement lies rigorous physical training and discipline that rival the dedication of traditional athletes. Dancers hone their bodies through intense workouts, focusing on strength, flexibility, and endurance. From ballet's precise footwork to the explosive energy of contemporary dance, performers push their physical limits to achieve perfection. But dance isn't just about physicality—it's a mental challenge as well. Dancers must memorize intricate choreography, interpret music, and convey emotion through movement, requiring sharp focus and creativity. Training regimens mirror those of elite athletes, with daily rehearsals, cross-training, and injury prevention measures. Through dedication and resilience, dancers defy gravity and expectations, showcasing the incredible synergy of art and athleticism on stage. In essence, dance is more than just an art form—it's a testament to the power and beauty of the human body in motion.

Sr. Marketing Leader | ex-Amazon | 10+ Years in Brand, Social & Performance Marketing | Specializing in B2C E-commerce, Digital Media & Entertainment | Driving Brand Growth Strategies
After getting laid off, you really start thinking about what you want to do with your life. Jeff Bezos champions a concept known as the “regret minimization framework,” a mental model that motivates long-term thinking and decision-making with the goal of reducing your future regrets. Applying this to my own life motivated me to test using my skills to help non-profits & startups as an independent marketing contractor. It's something I've always wanted to explore. If not now, when? I'm excited to start my first post-Amazon adventure contracting as the acting Director of Marketing and External Affairs at the Dance Institute of Washington (DIW). DIW, an organization run by some fantastic Princeton alums, stands out for its commitment to equity & diversity in dance education. It's mission is backed by impressive supporters including Oprah, the White House, and a recent $2MM grant from Mackenzie Scott. Over the next few months, I'll be building out and scaling their Marketing, PR & Social functions. DIW stands out for its unique approach to dance education, primarily serving dancers from diverse backgrounds. Their goal is to remove economic and social barriers to participation in ballet and other dance forms, empowering any student to build the skills and confidence needed to perform at high levels, enter college and careers, and give back to their communities. This is done through affordable world-class dance training, performance opportunities, and a rich curriculum covering broad topics like health, nutrition, academic prep, life skills, mentoring, and workforce development. Dance holds a special place in my heart — it was literally my first job when I joined a dance company at the age of 13. It taught me many lessons around discipline, leadership, attention to detail, and creativity. These are the skills that helped me, a pretty random kid growing up in the Middle East, get into Princeton and grow at Amazon. All young people should have the chance to benefit from the arts, no matter their background. The arts have a powerful role in shaping future leaders. This new chapter for me is about trying new things, learning, and growing. As a leader, I always used to encourage my teams to take uncomfortable risks and non-linear paths; if I can't apply that myself, I won't have much credibility! Sure, it's intimidating to step into the unknown. At Amazon, we used to talk a lot about "two-way doors." These are decisions you can back out of if they don't work out. So, if this new path isn't right for me, I can always pivot, taking with me new lessons learned. This shift is, at worst, reversible. Here's to the journey ahead and looking back with fewer regrets. And while you're here, read more about DIW and lmk if you're interested in supporting 👇🏼 PS. If you are a start-up or non-profit that needs a fractional marketing director, you know where to find me!

One of my favorite books on creativity is The Creative Habit by Twyla Tharp. And one of the reasons why it's a favorite is because it's both idiosyncratic and general. Tharp is a choreographer, and her discussions of creativity are grounded in dance. I don't dance. And the physicality of dance as a mode of creative expression is unique. Still, Tharp talks to us about creativity in a way that is accessible and compelling. It's also a favorite because we learn about dance and that choreography is much more than just arranging people on a stage. So, through her book, as we're learning to be creative, we're learning about something else, too, and that's delightful to me — because learning is essential to creativity, imagination, curiosity, and play. As you might guess by the title of the book, for Tharp, habits are fundamental to creativity. I completely agree with this. To sustain creativity, we need to establish routines. This may sound counter to notions of creativity as being spontaneous. But routines provide the time and space for that spontaneity to occur, for that spark to happen. Routines also create the discipline to maintain a creative practice over time and the capabilities and skills essential to creative expression. For Tharp, one such routine is going to the gym every morning. As a dancer, she expresses through her body. As a choreographer, she orchestrates the expression of other dancers through their bodies. The habit of going to the gym every morning keeps her attuned to her body. Even though she's not the one dancing, attending to her body and understanding bodies is vital to her creative work. What I like about this example is how simple it is: going to the gym daily. Sure, it requires commitment, but it's not some esoteric ritual or some feat only an expert can do. It's worth thinking about what a habit would be for our creativity and then taking it up (it's not enough to think about it). One of my habits is writing for at least 30 minutes daily, at least six days a week. I may write something different every day, but I'm still setting aside dedicated time for writing every day. Another habit is that at least once a week, I spend two hours indulging in creative expression that has nothing to do with my work. Recently, a lot of that time I've put towards music. The daily writing habit keeps me practiced in writing. Even when I'm not writing towards a goal, such as an essay or book, it's worthwhile exercise and rehearsal. The weekly random creative expression habit is an opportunity for play, to make something for the sake of the enjoyment that comes from making something. That sort of play, and the curiosity it prompts, is vital. Like Tharp's habit of going to the gym, these habits are simple, but their repetition and the practices they develop are meaningful.

Three of my favorite things (#Rhianna, #soccer + #loungewear) are coming together to solidify Savage X Fenty as one of the most prolific brands today. Everything Rhianna touches is successful. #Beauty, #clothing, #music + more. She and her brand are as much of a whole brand as any. Don't just take my word for it. See how her brand fares in Barkley's latest State of the Whole Brands report (https://lnkd.in/g-q6grhV). Hint: Like her songs and their Top 40 rankings; she's near the top! #WholeBrands #BrandStrategy #WholeBrandThinking https://lnkd.in/gPu7MV2q
