Our National Academy of Sciences nuclear terrorism report is finally out and available. My summary: A number of developments make clear that the risk of nuclear terrorism persists and may even be worsening.  These include eroding anti-nuclear norms; continuing improvements in artificial intelligence and machine learning, facilitating the rapid analysis of technical information; Russia’s nuclear swaggering in its war with Ukraine; illegal trade in fissile materials; and inadequate security at nuclear facilities.   We are deeply grateful to the government and non-government specialists who are working to protect us. But additional steps can be taken to reduce the risk, which are detailed in our report here: https://lnkd.in/ezV9JMG9.

Any attempt to prevent any kind of terrorism is harmed by the republican anti-science and anti-government disinformation and votes.
