You'll be seeing more posts from me in the new year, but first I want to take this opportunity to publicly announce that I graduated Parsity Coding School, a JavaScript software engineering bootcamp! I don't have a picture, since there was no formal graduation ceremony (Parsity is 100% online). So instead I dug up a picture of the last time I graduated - University of Texas undergrad in 2006! While I'm proud to be a college graduate, I'm much prouder for completing this 6-month bootcamp. Looking at this picture, it's hard to believe that I felt busy as a 22 year old whose only responsibility in life was to complete my last 15 credit hours so I could graduate. This time around, I was raising my toddler and newborn with my wife, while working a full time job and completing course work on nights and weekends! It felt like a great accomplishment, but that feeling faded quickly when I experienced how difficult it can be to break into this industry! Over the next few weeks, I'll be posting more about my experience looking for a software engineering job over the last 6 months. In the meantime, if you or any of your connections are looking for a front end software engineer, please let me know!
