As a valve specialist, it is not only necessary to be knowledgeable about maintenance, but also to understand the reasons why a valve may fail in order to recommend the best operating condition for the equipment. In the photo below, we can see a plug with severe damage in its sealing area, which required replacement. But why did this happen? Studying this occurrence in detail, it was possible to identify that the control for this valve was incorrect, causing it to operate in small openings at a very high speed, which consequently led to the damage. Additionally, the low opening did not meet the flow requirements. After replacing the plug and implementing a characterized opening curve that provided a better range of valve opening and improved flow response, the valve now operates normally without the previous frequent issues. Therefore, be a technician who seeks to understand the reasons for failures, rather than just correcting them. #valvula

Regardless of if you’re operating a new or used telehandler, this telehandler inspection checklist will keep your operators safe and moving forward. Check the following components or areas for damage: Electrical components, wiring and electrical cables. Hydraulic hoses, fittings, cylinders and manifolds. Fuel, hydraulic and coolant tanks. Axles and drive hubs. Boom wear pads. Tires and wheels. Production operator is a complex job requiring a wide range of skills, from knowledge of pipes to mechanics and electricity. It's imperative to know and be able to recognize at a glance the different types of valve and their principles for optimal operation. You also need to be able to recognize the sizes of the most commonly used pipes, so you can be 10 x more productive when it comes to isolation and so on... The most important thing is to be able to work safely in all circumstances. Having a global vision and understanding of the system, because it's a system of cause and effect. Tools are so important that can influence your performance and safety. having the right tool for the job can make it easier for a craftsman to diagnose, service and maintain with the best performance any equipment. Plus, this will imply staying within safety standards, regulations and avoiding improvisations to get the job done. Proper planning, JSA and RA will highlight what tools are required for each step of the task. Most workplaces and companies have a sort of procedure stablished on what needs to be done prior taking on a task along with a PTW system. Which should cover most of technical and safety requirements. Certain complex or specialized tasks require special tools and procedures. However, on site what is commonly used as tooling and what do you need to carry around on the +80% of tasks? What tools are mostly used? For the Oil and Gas people. What would y'all think if I told y'all there was a program in Oklahoma that for less than $30k you could send a brand new maintenance hire to school for 10 months and they would come out the other side with 1432 hours of instruction from basic electronics, solid state electronics, variable frequency drives, PLC diagnostics, networking, and programming, welding, basic machining, hydraulics troubleshooting and repair, and pneumatic troubleshooting and repair? A technician, that if successful in the program, could be sent out with equipment documentation and tools and be successful in diagnostics and repair of most equipment.
