Helping Business Leaders Achieve Efficient Revenue Growth & Profitability | Empowering The Next Generation of Revenue Leaders | Proud Girl Dad of 3 👧🏽
🐠⚾️ Throughout my career I’ve always been intrigued by leadership…I’ve followed great leaders for jobs and been intentional about studying great leaders. Since our new President of Baseball Operations, Peter Bendix has come in I’ve been very impressed with the additions he’s made to his department. Obviously, I’m a bit biased but what I’ve been most impressed with is he is bringing in leaders with diverse backgrounds, innovative ways of thinking and placed a strong emphasis on culture. I’m blessed to have one of the most diverse ticket sales leadership teams in MLB with a mix of ethnicity, gender and backgrounds. Statistics show diverse management teams achieve 19% greater revenue success so diversity is essential to bottom line results. Here are 10 reasons why: 1️⃣ Broader Perspectives: Different backgrounds bring varied perspectives, leading to more comprehensive understanding of issues and challenges. 2️⃣ Enhanced Creativity and Innovation: Diversity fosters creativity as different viewpoints often lead to innovative solutions. 3️⃣ Improved Decision Making: With diverse viewpoints, teams can consider multiple angles and potential outcomes, leading to better decisions. 4️⃣ Increased Representation: It ensures that different segments of a workforce or community are represented in decision-making processes. 5️⃣ Better Problem-Solving: Research shows that diverse groups often outperform homogenous ones in problem-solving tasks. 6️⃣ Global Competitiveness: In a globalized world, having a leadership team with diverse cultural perspectives can be a significant advantage. 7️⃣ Reduced Groupthink: Diversity helps prevent groupthink, where the desire for harmony leads to poor decision-making. 8️⃣ Adaptability: Diverse teams can adapt more quickly to changes and varied market conditions. 9️⃣ Attracting and Retaining Talent: Organizations known for diversity are more attractive to a wide range of employees. 🔟 Reflecting Customer Base: A diverse team is more likely to understand and relate to a diverse customer base. 2022 NYS Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee | Yankee Stadium Tour Director, (Ret.), Baseball Historian (SABR),| American History, Environmentalist - NYBG | Fmr. Adjunct Professor - Fordham University
In the 1960s, there was yet another change in baseball’s structure—the draft (and we’re not talking about the war here). As reported by Matt Kelly of the Baseball Hall of Fame: “Created in 1965 to restore competitive balance and to curb the inflated signing bonuses given to unproven players, the amateur draft is now recognized by MLB teams as a crucial tool to ensuring their long-term success.” The amateur draft offers the lower-ranked baseball teams the earliest selections to sign the best prospects from the talent pool. In effect, this hurt teams like the more successful Yankees and Dodgers, who would, in most cases, be the preferred choice of the ballplayer. #Baseball #History #AmericanHistory #NationalPastime #TheNewYorkGame #Education #NYSBaseballHOF #AmericanLeague #Yankees #Draft
