StructureCraft’s Post

The Presentation Centre at Fraser Mills pays homage to the legacy of the local old lumber mill, which held a prominent position as the largest mill in the region and played a pivotal role in the growth of Vancouver. Inspired by the site’s rich historical significance, Patkau Architects's visionary design for Beedie's presentation center encapsulates a master plan info hub and two display homes that seamlessly blend the past with the present. It ingeniously incorporates elements symbolizing innovation and growth, where the central themes of craft, wood, and technology converge to reflect both the traditional craftsmanship deeply rooted in the lumber mill’s heritage and the cutting-edge advancements that have shaped the area’s development. “The goal was not merely to construct a building but to create a living testament that seamlessly weaves together the past, present, and future.” says Greg Boothroyd, Principal at Patkau Architects. Our role: Structural engineer of record and timber builder #Coquitlam #StructuralEngineering #MassTimber #TimberConstruction
