Cheers to a successful internship journey! From observing to assisting, my experience in the laboratory offered a comprehensive learning experience focusing on the study of blood and its components. Through conducting tests such as complete blood counts, blood typing, and coagulation studies, I gained valuable insights into the diagnosis and monitoring of various medical conditions. I had the opportunity to explore the chemical processes happening within living organisms and analyze substances like glucose, cholesterol, and enzymes to assess organ function and diagnose diseases. My internship experience was truly remarkable! I had the opportunity to work in a professional setting, gain practical knowledge, and develop valuable skills. It was an immersive learning experience that allowed me to apply my theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. I formed meaningful connections with my colleagues and mentors, and I feel more confident and prepared for my future career. It's an engaging and important field that contributes to advancements in healthcare. I’m grateful for the opportunity and excited for what lies ahead! #Internship #MedicalResearch #CareerDevelopment #Healthcare #LaboratoryExperience #LearningExperience #ProfessionalGrowth #Grateful #ExcitedForTheFuture

Statistics Ph.D. candidate at UNC-CH | Biostatistics Intern at BMS, Statistical Consultant | Domain expertise in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Programming in R, Python | Excellent communication skills
Celebrating the successful completion of an internship is a familiar post on LinkedIn. Being one month late to write about my extremely fruitful Biostatistics internship at Bristol Myers Squibb, I feel like I can speak not only about the internship but also the huge impact it has had on my life after the internship. This post would be utterly incomplete without mentioning my tremendously caring, supportive, motivating, and knowledgeable internship manager, Dipnil Chakraborty. He always went above and beyond to guide me on the project, as well as teaching me different aspects of statistical applications in clinical trials, the use of relevant guidelines and protocols, and so on. For anyone working on data-driven projects, missing data is a common problem that can cause severe consequences. Hence, working on a novel method in an extremely unexplored branch of this topic and developing the necessary codes was extremely satisfying. I am also grateful to Dipnil for introducing me to two awesome internship mentors, Shu-Pang Huang and Susan Parker. I sincerely doubt if anyone else other than them would do a better job of giving an intern the big picture of the pharmaceutical industry in such a short span of time. This internship was much more than working on a project. I have always been curious about how different teams in a big company work together. Interactions with several members from versatile teams across BMS satiated that inquisitiveness. I also realized the importance of soft skills like communication through this internship. While it was great to work on an exciting project, it was far more fulfilling to be praised by all after communicating my technical findings in a compact way to a large audience during the final presentation. Finally, as I mentioned earlier, the experience gained in the internship has massively impacted my life afterwards too. I have learned to see my research and anything in statistics or biostatistics in general through a better lens of real-world applications. Working for a company that has been making life-saving drugs for years gave me a life-changing motivation to use my mere knowledge for the benefit of others. Working with some awesome people in an industry atmosphere solidified my career goals too. All in all, kudos to the oncology team at BMS for molding me into a better person both professionally and personally through this internship. #BMS #internship #statistics #biostatistics #missing_data
