I would say one of the biggest challenges many of us have in our organizations is we've got too much to do and not enough time and not enough people. Can you relate?   We just wrapped up our Melinta Therapeutics annual executive committee offsite meeting in beautiful Asbury Park. I always look forward to our in-person meetings – when you can meet in a setting where you’re not constantly on your laptop or your phone, you can accomplish so much. We took advantage of our time to discuss how we can operationalize and optimize our strategic plan for next year and beyond. And because we have so much to do, this includes having hard conversations about prioritization and getting alignment on what we will and will not do. Let’s face it, if everything is important, nothing is important, so what is ESSENTIAL?   Even more importantly, we discussed our talent – the people at the heart of our success. As a leadership team, one of the most important things we do is make sure we invest in our people and support a culture that values continuous learning and growth. One of the highlights of this offsite was the integration of fun team-building activities, including my second competitive bowling competition this year. Let's just say, I think I missed my calling. But all jokes aside, these moments of fun and connection outside of the office are just as important as the work we do day-to-day. Joined Brand Solutions at Alchemist, 2nd day of work was a Doodhwala! A stark departure from my previous experiences, accustomed to being welcomed in senior positions to my own cabin or cubicle, along with a welcome kit + new laptop, my 2nd day here in February 2019 stood poles apart! Walking into a locked office door upon arrival, I take the lift back to the ground floor to confirm the timings with security. A phone call later, I’m directed to the hidden key to unlock the door. Not cool leaving the milk packets on the ground, I pick up the 6-7 milk packets, newspapers into the office and proceed to navigate the unfamiliar office layout in search of the elusive electric switch board. 15 mins later, its 10 am - No office boy nor anyone in sight. "Maybe it’s a prank" -  recalling by MTV days – MTV Bakra. Time goes by, sitting alone in the deafening silence, I switch-on my abnormal thinking cap (one of my many traits to absorb angles from a different perspective). A profound realisation dawns upon me: the essence of Alchemist may lay in its deeply human touch. My journey begins… Fast forward to today & part of its growth story, I celebrate 5 years at Alchemist & 28 years of my professional journey. More than myself, I'm struck by the difference this company has made to so many people out here. Its commitment in nurturing the human spirit has kept me engaged & hooked on; where I see myself making a lifetime difference to the young minds who work closely with me, shaping their personal growth. Here, we encourage individuals to infuse their unique personalities into their work. No surprise that we are a ‘Great Place To Work Certified’ For me personally, it's the entrepreneurial challenge that truly defines my professional journey. I thrive in the chaos in the pursuit of victory in situations where there can only be One winner in agency life.
