Investment opportunities announced for fish projects in Oman Muscat : The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MoHUP), through the Tatweer platform, offered investment opportunities for both fish projects in the wilayats of Sinaw and Al Mudhaibi in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate. By offering these investment opportunities in the two wilayats in various #fishery and other investment activities, the Ministry aims to provide services to citizens and residents and encourage the private sector to invest in basic services supporting the fishery sector. The proposed investment opportunities will contribute to increasing production in various fishery and other investment activities in the Wilayats of Al Mudhaibi and Sinaw, and will work to supply the local market and neighboring markets with fish products that contribute to enhancing #foodsecurity and creating added value for specific projects in the fisheries sector in the Sultanate of Oman. Representatives from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture engaged with over 60 specialized Chinese firms to explore and expand opportunities within the aquaculture sector and foster expertise exchange. The National Fisheries Development Program, represented by the ministry’s delegation, played a key role in these discussions. Established in 2015, the fishery program seeks to draw over $4 billion in investment from the private sector by the end of the decade.  This development is expected to enhance the volume of seafood available for export dramatically, contributing to economic growth and employment creation. “Aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing areas in the food sector. Worldwide, it’s growing 6 percent per year. This contributes to food security, job creation and rural development — and it’s sustainable in terms of the environment and climate change,” NFPD CEO Ali Al-Shaikhi told Arab News Saudi Arabia hopes to produce 600,000 tons of fish a year as part of its Vision 2030 master plan to diversify the economy, creating some 200,000 direct and indirect jobs in the fishing industry. SAR 1.3 BN dedicated for this program to unlock the aqua culture's potential. 3. 1,800 KM coastline along the Red sea strategically has been located with water temperature along the cost: 18˚C (north) and 38˚C (south) making it possible for production of awide range of fish species. 4. To support the program, they developed 8 clustors acrross Kingdom, developing R & D cdepartments and supporting to develope infrastructure , feed mills etc. 5. Population expected growth rate is 1.4% per annum. 6. Sea food consumption per capita will be 20kg by 2030 while in 2024 it is 14kg per capita. 7. Sea food expected consumption growth rate is 7.4% per annum until 2030. 8. Expected GCC fish products import by 2030 will be 770,000 MT almost 300,000 increase from current year.
