What made our conference a hit? Following CTC-RI's largest annual conference held earlier this month, we spoke with Dr. Tom Bledsoe, CTC-RI Board Member and primary care physician, about his experience and perspective. Why is it helpful to bring practices together for the CTC-RI Annual Conference? "From the outset, one of the hallmarks of CTC-RI has been its collaborative nature. The twin messages of 'we are more effective at promoting change when we work together' and 'we all have expertise that we can share with each other' were on full display at the conference. We learned from experts, and after a strange three years, once again (re-)connected with colleagues to share our experiences and our plans for further improvements, both short and longer term!" Today, I am proud to share a project that is near and dear to my heart. My entire life I have witnessed my father - a cardiac electrophysiologist - dedicate countless hours and immeasurable energy to caring for patients and their families. Still today, his daily experiences at the bedside shape how I view public policies in healthcare and drive me to find solutions that make the jobs of clinicians just a little bit easier. As we launch the Novant Health Center for Public Policy Solutions, my hope is that we can elevate the voices of doctors like my dad and other clinicians who care enough to make caring for others their career. Our first white paper shines a light on what some may say is a small change - however, it would make a big difference to the Novant Health clinicians who lent their time and expertise to design this solution, as well as the countless other clinicians and patients who have to navigate such challenges each and every day. #healthcare #publicpolicy #wellness #primarycare #novanthealth #peoplefocused #solutionsdriven

I’ve always thought that the “great consolidation” amongst health systems will lead to large regional Kaiser-esque models, where the payors, clinicians, and facilities are integrated. What’s really interesting about Jaewon Ryu’s statement below is he says Geisinger is the “first inaugural member.” That makes me think Risant Health isn’t done, it wasn’t just a singular acquisition, but will be the first of many other “member” organizations that will lead to a huge conglomerate across the nation. What do you think? Am I reading into this too much? Or will Risant rival HCA + UHC in its ability to gain market share through vertical integration of clinical and health plan assets?

Principles of Perioperative Safety and Quality on the Global Stage We mostly address patient safety in various service segments however it’s important to ensure patients’ safety throughout the entire journey from admission until discharge from the hospital. This requires a multi-sectorial approach. with the involvement of health providers, policy makers, and global stakeholders toward strengthening the surgical care system, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
